He's just 12 years old, but Jaden Smith is rolling in the money. The only son of Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith pulled in a seven-figure salary for two 'Karate Kid' films.TMZ obtained a copy of Smith's contract for the films, which was signed in June 2009 when the actor was just 10 years old. The contract reveals he was paid in two installments for the two films, one for $900,000 and $100,000.
While those payments alone seem like a lot of money for a pre-teen, it's just the beginning. Thanks to the film's lucrative take at the box office -- bringing in over $150 million -- Smith received a $2 million bonus.

Hey, I don't mind Will Smith giving his kids money. But making us watch their crummy acting and taking jobs away from people who can actually entertain is criminal. We deserve better, and so do the actors at the bottom working up. This goes for you, to, Paltrow.

Why? That movie sucked and why should that kid make any cash? Who cares about him?

How about getting your kid a damn paper route instead.

um of course the movie sucked it was a remake those and sequels usually do. a kid his age making that kind of money is just wrong he's gonna feel self entitled for the rest of his life. Nell Newman when she played child Rachel in the movie Rachel Rachel in 1967 was probably paid 75,000 dollars but she'd been around film sets since conception and had her mother the star of the film taken a paycheck it would've been 300k as was her fee at the time but she refused the money to make a movie that would teach lessons of tollerance still relevant today over40 years later

His kids are young, hope all this exposure won't her them in the future, look at Lindsay Lohan.

That is wonderful. Now he has his own money, a financial planner, and with the proper guidelines he will not have to work again. Hopefully he will do more family movies, then college, and not ever feel he is dependent on his parent's money as he grows up. Way to go Young Man.

"Never have to work again?" At age twelve? REALLY. I'd tell you how warped that statement is, but you seem so far "out there" that I doubt that you would get it. We live in a time when people with little or no talent are rewarded for their mediocrity, be it "reality" TV or on the shirttails of their parents. While the latter exists in the real, too, none of it is good for any of us--and especially not good for the children.
Yea right. The kid already has an attitude. Maybe you need to look at some of the video's that showed the kid a Chan doing interviews. The kid is spoiled, gets his own way because of mommie and daddy. Renee take off those blinders you are wearing.
LOL!!!! This "movie" was produced by Will Smith. People need to learn more about the movie making process. Not only is this kid's Dad paying his salary - his Dad is making even more!

You are right. People, just because you don't have the talent or money that this young man or anyone in his family has, does not give the right to talk a buch of mess. DON'T HATE... CONGRADULATE
DON'T HATE ... SPELLING MISTAKE!
Your cheesy slogan attempt failed. It's CONGRATULATE.
This was a good movie and I think he did great in this movie. My whole family enjoyed the remake.

the reviews sucked and the movie sucked. the smiths should let there kids be there own !

the reviews are from people with PERSONAL opinions...just like you..if you like the movie, its good, if you dont, it sucks..but thats only YOUR personal opinion....
the smiths should raise their own kids, as they see fit.
Apparently most of us enjoyed Jaden's performance because we paid his salary! Will and his family are very talented and you just can't miss the love Will has for his son....watch the extra's on your disc!

How pathetic that a non vetted, non acting boy should get a contract like that! While people struggle everday with making the bare minimum just to get by, nepotism buys this child a salary he doesn't deserve and doesn't need.!

this is how america was built...been happening for hundreds of years...why does this particular situation bother you so much?
He was way too young for that movie. Ralph was a teenager when he played the role and Jaden does'nt look like hes older than 10. But when you Dad is bankrolling the project..who cares, right? I'm already sick of seeing these 2 pre-teen rich kids being shoved down everyone's throat. Terrible parenting...can't wait to see how they turn out in 5-6 years.

Actually Ralph was 23!
