Actress Yvette Vickers' Mummified Body Found in Her Home

Actress and former Playboy Playmate Yvette Vickers' mummified body was found in her Beverly Hills home last week, nearly a year after her death.
Vickers was best known for her bit roles in B-movies of the 1950's like 'Attack of the 50-Foot Woman' and was the Playboy Playmate in July 1959.
The Los Angeles Times is reporting that Vickers, 82, was not seen for a long time and one of her neighbors, actress Susan Savage, went to check on her after noticing old letters and cobwebs in her mailbox.
Savage said, "The letters seemed untouched and were starting to yellow. I just had a bad feeling."
After Savage pushed open a barricaded front gate and scaling a hillside, she entered through a broken window after seeing a shock of blond hair, which turned out to be a wig.
Savage said the inside of the house was in disrepair and it was hard to move between the rooms as boxes containing clothes, junk mail and letters formed barriers.
She eventually found Vickers in a room upstairs and while Savage had known the actress for a long time, she said that the remains were unrecognizable.
"We've all been crying about this. Nobody should be left alone like that," Savage said.
The police have said that the body's mummified state suggests that Vickers could have been dead for close to a year.
The police have also said that while the official cause of death is still to be determined, they do not suspect foul play.
IMDB states that Vickers was divorced twice and she had an on-and-off 15-year relationship with the late actor Jim Hutton, the father of Timothy Hutton.

Ted, you're a jerk. The woman was elderly. Go to LA Times Blog and look at her photo from the 50's. She was a knock-out. The year of her birth was actually 1928. This photo posted here shows her in her mid 70's at least. Be thankful it's not a pix of your grandmother or some other older person in your life.
They should have used one of her older photos then.
Ted you are a pig. The first thing I think is why has no one noticed this woman missing? Did she not have any friends or family? This took a year and a neighbor to notice??
SHAME ON THE IGNORANT LETTER CARRIER FOR NOT NOTICING SOMETHING WAS WRONG FOR A WHOLE YEAR. POSTAL EMPLOYEES AREN'T VERY BRIGHT !
Cobwebs in the mail box? What the heck was the mail carrier thinking? I wonder if she use to hang out at Hugh Heffner's mansion? She was really hot in her day. RIP.
Shame on you Ted....
That poor woman was all alone in the world...
I wouldn't wish that on anyone....including your insensitive arse...
:(
Ted, I'd love to see how good you'll look in your old age. Let's see what a smart guy you'll be then.
Often times, age replaces our beauty. I researched Yvette and found that she was drop dead gorgeous back in her hey days (over 50 years ago). She was sexy beyond any of the ho's today. I mean sexy, NOT whorish, revealing just enough, but not everything like the ho's today do. Keep in mind she was 82 years old when she died!!!! Beautiful woman and sad story/life.
Ted...and you're stunningly handsome, are you? No, I bet you're an ugly little f***er who lives a sad life sat in front of his PC all day. Go outside, meet real people, get a life. ;-)
This is so horrible to read. What a sad way to go. My prayers go out to the family of Ms. Vickers, but honestly how did no one discover her body for over a YEAR? I guess not having many close relationships is one of the prices you pay for fame.

Evidently she had no family if no one noticed her missing for a year. I have to wonder why the mailman didn't question her disappearance when the mail box got full.
Not necessisarily QWS. Maybe she just kept to herself. Maybe she was disguarded and forgotten when she started to age like most elderly are. The world is full of idiots like TED! Just because she was famous(at one time)it doesnt mean that she had no close relationships.
Forgive Ted, he's a liberal and cannot help himself.
Woah James. Being a liberal has nothing to do with being a jerk.
Clearly, she had no family to feel sorry for.
being a liberal has EVERYTHING to do with being a jerk. in fact, I think it's one of their main recruiting points, since they don't seem to care about intelligence, logic, or [gasp!] hard work!
she was 82 how many friends do you think she still had that were even still alive to know she was dead?

My grandmother is 92, and she has friends and neighbors who call or stop by daily to check on her. Just because you're old doesn't mean you're friendless.
If anything I just hope she is resting in peace, and since when did age have anything to do with having or not having friends?!?Wow what a world we live in.
