Marie Osmond Remarries First Husband 26 Years After Divorce

Marie Osmond, 51, remarried ex-husband Stephen Craig, 54, Wednesday in Las Vegas,
PEOPLE magazine writes. The pair were married from 1982 to 1985 and have a son, also named Stephen, who turned 28 in April.
Craig was Osmond's first husband. She was since married to music producer Brian Blosil from 1986 to 2007. That marriage brought Osmond seven children -- two biological and five adopted.
"I am so happy and look forward to sharing my life with Stephen, who is an amazing man as well as a great father to my children," Osmond said Wednesday.
The wedding was a private ceremony held at the Las Vegas Mormon Temple. According to PEOPLE, Marie walked the aisle in the same Ret Turner-designed dress she wore for the couple's first wedding. The newly-re-weds held a reception in their Nevada home.
Stephen Craig isn't exactly a familiar name, keeping showbiz at a remove despite his relationship with Hollywood staple Osmond. "Craig is a former professional basketball player and travels the country as a motivational speaker," PEOPLE writes.
The happy news comes a little more than a year after Osmond's 18-year-old son, Michael Blosil,
committed suicide. Reports of Marie and Stephen reconvening -- and even rumors of a remarriage -- came around the same time. "Stephen helped Marie pull through [after Michael's death] ... He asked her to marry him and she's accepted," one tabloid
reported in March 2010.
Osmond and Craig chose May 4 to commemorate the birthdays of both her deceased son and late mother. "It was important that both Michael and my mom were with us on this special day," Osmond says.
In a
televised interview during the first marriage, Stephen spoke of his relationship with Marie and how having a child changed things. "Getting married, I don't think was very difficult at all," he said. "We had courted for several years and got to know each other very well. I don't think that changeover was as difficult as becoming a parent."
The reporter of that TV spot submitted that the couple's love would last forever. "I'm so in love," Marie said. "It sounds so dumb. When I see him walk into the room ... he's a great man. He's very secure within himself, and very much an individual. I just ... I love him so much."
TMZ reports that Marie cited "mental cruelty" in her first divorce from Stephen.
E! Online writes that the couple stayed friendly in the decades since their divorce.

Can one get re-married in the Mormon Temple?
Reply
Yes a Mormon can remarry within the LDS Temple as many times as they wish however by their beliefs only the first marriage will be vaild in the next life.
The problem with all of this marriage/divorce/remarriage stuff is that according to the Bible the only allowed reason for divorce is adultry and then the parties are not to remarry. Any man who marries a divorced woman makes her an adultress. Also any woman who is divorced and remarried is NOT to return to the first husband. The only allowance of remarriage is if both parties remained unmarried during their separation. Sadly our world does not view marriage/divorce/remarriage the same way God does. God does not bless any union that is not in accord with His Word.
Yes a person can get married in the temple twice. If It is their first time to get married in the temple they are married for 'time and all eternity'. If it is their second time to get married in the temple unless their exes from the first sealling approves they can get married a second time for 'time and all eternity" If the ex(es) doesn't approve they can still marry in the temple but for 'time ' only or as said in other churches 'until death do you part.' I have friends right now who are waiting for his ex to send the paperwork in so that he and his wife can be sealed in the temple.
Marie,
Thank God that "Life" is full of second chances !
I congratualte you, and wish the very best and warmet wishes to the ' Mr. & Mrs.' the second time around !

I have been to my sister's wedding 5 times. #1, #3 and #5 were the same guy. She's been with him almost 10 years this time around. Strange thing though. They have no kids together. The kids are from #2 (3) and #4 (2).

Well, lets see - Marie is no longer broke and he is old and nearly out to pasture - may be a good move on his part

Actually Steve is only 3 years older than Marie. So you think that 54 is "one foot in the grave" do you? Lets just say that one is as old as they feel. Neither of them look their ages and Marie looked great in her original wedding gown.
I GUESS HE COULDN'T WAIT FOR THE 72 VIRGINS...ONE PLUMP MORMON IN THE HAND... BEATS 72 BUSHES IN A BIRD BATH.!

ROTFLMAO!!! Choking on my dinner right now. Best laugh of the day!
Perhaps it was just a rumor, but back when Marie and Stephen divorced, the rumor was that he became gay on his Mormon mission and that when he came back to Marie, she of course, didn't want a gay husband, so they divorced. I don't know if there's any truth to it, but let's hope not, for the sake of her re-marriage to him. I hope that they both find happiness together.

I just saw Donny & Marie Osmond in Las Vegas and got to meet them she is so sweet and i say congrats to her. If that is what will make her happy i say she deserves it.the reason for divorces sometimes are as bad as they sound some states wont let you get a divorce without a valid reason like california where you can get a divorce for nothing and say its irreconcible differences. so the reason mental cruelty may just have been a reason they used to get the divorce. a friends husband used cruel and inhuman treatment when he filed for divorce and he is the one who left her for another woman b/c he had to use some reason. If she is happy i say more power to her!!!!

It wasn't the first husband that was cruel to her, it was the second. Stephen was someone she married very young. Love is Lovelier the second time around. People grow and change. Good Luck!

What great news! It's so nice to see a couple rekindle what was once lost and now found again. I'm sure their oldest son is especially happy. Couples remarry even long after divorce all the time both recognizing where things might have gone wrong yet still have underlying love still for one another. I'm happy for them!!
