Let's Try That Again: Celeb Couples Who Remarry

Marie Osmond is not the only celebrity to tie or retie the knot with an ex. Hollywood has a rich, albeit small, history of exes discovering true love -- again -- with an ex-love. One iconic comedian even did twice ... with two women! A two-time two-timer, if you will. Read on.

The most famous example, of course, is Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton. The two met on the set of 'Cleopatra' in 1963. Both were married at the time, Taylor to Eddie Fisher and Burton to first wife, Sybil Williams with whom he had two daughters. The two began a torrid affair which simultaneously outraged and fascinated the world. The Vatican even weighed in condemning the passionate pair for "erotic vagrancy." Eventually they divorced their spouses and married in March, 1964. Epic bouts of drinking, wild spending sprees and many oversized diamonds followed and they finally divorced in June, 1974. Burton said, "You can't keep clapping a couple of sticks (of dynamite) together without expecting them to blow up." But the combustible couple did reunite and wed in October 1975 at a safari in Botswana. Alas it was not meant to be as the pair divorced again the following July. Although both went onto marry numerous times Taylor avowed that the Welsh born actor was the love of her life.

Natalie Wood had harbored a crush on handsome actor Robert Wagner for years. She was just 18 when they met and he was 27. The two went out on a date arranged by the studios on her 18th birthday and wed in 1957. A year after they were wed Wood penned her husband a letter saying, "You are my husband, my child, my strength, my weakness, my lover, my life.' Sadly they divorced in 1962. Wood went on to marry British film producer Richard Gregson and had a daughter with him while Wagner married Marion Marshall and also had a daughter but the exes always kept in touch and after they were both divorced their partners started seeing each other again. In July 1972 just five months after reconciling Wood and Wagner rewed and had a daughter Courtney together. They would remain married until Wood's tragic drowning death in 1981.

Comic legend Richard Pryor was married seven times, twice to Flynn Belaine. Both unions lasted less than a year. BUT THAT'S NOT ALL: Pryor was also married twice to Jennifer Lee, who was with the star until his death in 2005.

Melanie Griffith was only 14 when she met 22 year old actor Don Johnson on the set of 'The Harrad Experiment.' Johnson was co-starring in the film with Tippy Hendren, Griffith's mother. They carried on a four year affair and were married in Las Vegas in 1976 but the union didn't last long - a scant six months. Meanwhile Griffith married Steven Bauer and had a son and Johnson lived with and had a son with Patti D'Arbanville. A decade after their first split Johnson and Griffith reunited and remarried in June 1989. Their daughter, Dakota was born in October, 1989. Six years later they parted once again. Griffith went onto marry Spanish heart throb Antonio Banderas and Johnson married San Francisco socialite and ex-preschool teacher, Kelley Phleger.

Elliot Gould whose first wife was Barbra Streisand was married twice to Jenny Bogart. They had two children before marrying in December 1973 but divorced two years later. Their second union didn't even last a year.

Lana Turner who was married a total of eight times including a four month hitch to band leader Artie Shaw was married twice to actor-restauranteur Stephen Crane. Their first marriage in 1942 was annulled the next year after the 'Postman Always Rings Twice' star discovered that Crane was still legally married. After a brief separation during which Crane tried to kill himself they remarried as Turner had given birth to their daughter, Cheryl. They finally divorced for good in 1944. Years later Cheryl made headlines when she stabbed her mother's mobster boyfriend Johnny Stompanato to death.
