When her performance began it was just Haley Reinhart, a stool and her voice.
Sheryl Crow suggested she begin her take on 'The House of the Rising Sun' a cappella and it turned out to be a bold and powerful suggestion as Reinhart stole the show on 'American Idol'.
It can be advantageous to perform last on a show that opens the lines to public voting as soon as you finish, and Reinhart took total advantage of that. She may have gotten mixed reviews for her first performance of the night, but everyone was blown away by her show closer.
Randy Jackson put it quite succinctly. "The award tonight for the best performance of the night goes to Haley!"
We couldn't agree more. It's been exciting watching the contestants grow in confidence each week, and Reinhart has truly blossomed into a seasoned and passionate performer. She absolutely owned her moment on the stage. Even though she's a tiny little thing, she filled that stage this week with her voice.

Haley, I was always impressed with you after your renditions of Janice Joplin, Aretha Franklin and others. You have such range and volume to your voice. You do a great job to any song you attempt. Keep up the good work and I hope you go far.

Some worked, others didn’t (like that flower in Jennifer’s hair -- first time I despised the ’do all season), and it was all served with a nice chianti, some fava beans, and Anthony Hopkins in the audience. Also in the house: Kelly Preston and her daughter, Idol season 6 alum Lakisha Jones, and Dax Shepard and Dane Cook, who were big James Durbin fans, according to Idol Worship’s Shirley Halperin, who was in the studio.
I personally dont think screaming until your voice is raspy is "artsy" I hear that everyday from my toddler, and teens. Haley is not impressive. I would rather listen to my husband sing in the shower.

If James wins it is because of his story and tears, not his voice. They have to use echo, back up vocals, and every trick in the book to make him sound on pitch. He has talent, but no vocal control. James should not win because he needs voice lessons before he takes that kind of title. Also how the hell could he handle the pressure of the cut throat industry - they need to tell him when he is off pitch and screeching.
Haley has a terrible attitude! She isn't that great of a singer or performer. I truly wish she would be voted off. I haven't voted for that girl at all.
