Paris Hilton is a month out from debuting her new reality show, 'The World According to Paris' on Oxygen, which many celebrity watchers are calling her last best chance to evolve her public image from party princess into something more palatable and sustainable for a lasting career.

In the lead up to the show, Paris has already been giving her public persona a makeover. Here's the five ways Ms. Hilton is working to win the crowd.

1. She's been charitable. Last Friday, Hilton attended the Race to Erase MS gala in Los Angeles, auctioning off the chance to spend the day shopping with her and her sister Nicki to benefit the charity. During the event, Paris seemed genuinely pleased to be there, spoke eloquently to reporters on the red carpet and left all small pets at home.

2. She's savvy on current events. Hilton was one of the first celebrities to express her gratitude over Osama Bin Laden's capture and death on Twitter. Equally important, she refrained from saying the OBL assassination was either "hot" or that she "likes it."
