Lady Gaga, Stevie Nicks to Perform on 'American Idol'

It's time to dust off the bustier, slide into some velvet and sew on some sequins! In news that will make music fans from several generations very, very happy indeed, it's been reported that both Lady Gaga and Stevie Nicks will perform on the 'American Idol' season finale later this month.

According to Perez Hilton, the legendary Fleetwood Mac singer-songwriter will take the 'Idol' stage for what promises to be an epic performance.

There's been no word yet if we'll get to see a Stevie-Gaga duet, but it's likely that many minds will be blown by just the possibility of such a spectacular hook-up.

And that's not all Lady Gaga will be doing on 'Idol.' According to host Ryan Seacrest, the 'Born This Way' singer will be next week's mentor.

Seacrest announced the news via Twitter: "I only have one word for our mentor on @AmericanIdol next week.......... Gaga."

Lady Gaga will work with the remaining Top 4 contestants alongside her record label boss, 'American Idol' in-house mentor, Jimmy Iovine. Her role will be to guide and advise the singers before their live performances Wednesday night.

Stevie Nicks has recently been undergoing a career revival. This week's 'Rumors' episode of 'Glee' paid tribute to Fleetwood Mac, and earlier this week Nicks released her first solo album in 10 years.

Despite the long hiatus Nicks has remained an iconic pop music presence and is feted at events like tonight's annual velvet and satin extravaganza, Night of a 1000 Stevies. However, she's been dogged by ill-health, and this week was forced to pull out of several scheduled appearances after being diagnosed with pneumonia.

The show has been nothing but self promotion. I wouldn't be surprised if there both on to hawk something. Jennifer hawked a song, Steven hawked a book. It seems clearly none of these talents are their for the contestants. Gaga does crazy things for media attention which is the norm. Stevie Niks I heard of but don't have any of her stuff.

I do know after watching idol for several weeks I am not listening to Lopez or Aerosmith again. It doesn't matter, they have plenty of fans. Just can't buy into their nonsense anymore.

I love Aerosmith, love Stevie (seen her in concert twice) and I also like Lady Gaga if I don't have to look at her. Her voice is actually nice but the costumes are over the limit

That Gaga lady mentoring the final 4 and not the great Stevie Nicks, who has year more experience....something wrong with that setup, it seems to me. Looking forward to seeing Stevie on the finale.

LOVE LOVE LOVE Stevie !! LIKE Gaga. My only consern is that Stevie will be up-staged by Gaga. Stevie is a TRUE star with more talent in her little finger than half of Hollywood put together !Totally agree w/ Stan s NOONE ever has anything bad to say about Stevie. Am I the only one who thinks that Stevie Nicks sounds like one of the Munchkins from the Wizard of Oz? Most notably, the Mayor of Munchkin City.

As far as i know Lee, yes, you are the only 1. Stevie Nicks has 1 of the greatest all-time voices in music since i can remember. Listen to the song Landslide or Rhiannon, and then tell me she sounds like a Munchkin, and i will tell you to get your ears thoroughly cleaned & get hearing aids.
