Meredith Vieira Officially Announces She's Leaving 'Today'

'Today Show' co-host Meredith Vieira is officially leaving the NBC morning show, she announced during Monday's broadcast.

"After months of personal reflection and private conversations between my family and my friends, I've decided to leave 'Today,' in June," she said, sitting next to Matt Lauer and Al Roker.

Vieira, who has co-hosted the show with Lauer for the past five years, said she has decided to spend more time with her husband, who suffers from multiple sclerosis, and their three children.

Ann Curry will take over Vieira's chair, and NBC correspondent Natalie Morales will take over Curry's news desk position.

"I feel like the high school computer nerd who was just asked to the prom by the quarterback of the football team," an emotional Curry said, calling Vieira a "gift to this broadcast" and if it was her choice, Vieira would stay on 'Today.'

Vieira said her goal is to stay in the NBC family, just not on the 'Today Show' couch.

First of all, why are you shouting? Secondly I agree with other posts
in reply to you, you must be a very angry person. Third, There are two
other morning shows in the morning, why were you watching this one if
you feel so negatively about the Today Show and its hosts? Ever hear
of changing the channel? Or do you just enjoy getting on posts so you
can spew venom at innocent people who are just doing their jobs? Do
yourself and all of us a favor and get familiar with your remote
control.

I've enjoyed watching Meredith over the years.From her stint on "THE VIEW" to "TODAY". As always,family is most important. I wish her nothing but all the best life has to offer. SHe will be missed by her fans.

I totally agree with you about Meredith's mouth. For me, she is one of the most boring news people I've ever seen. She totally turned me off tho the time she had a nice looking guy on as a contestant on "Who Wants To Be A Millionaire" and she gushed on and on about how sexy he was. I wondered if she'd been drinking at the time. It was very inappropriate, even if she had been unmarried, for her to give this impression as the host of a popular show. I think Ann Curry will do all right.
