Whitney Houston Enters Rehab for Drugs and Alcohol

Whitney Houston has entered rehab, according to TMZ. The site's source says she checked herself into a facility about 10 days ago.

"Whitney Houston is currently in an out-patient rehab program for drug and alcohol treatment," Houston's rep tells PEOPLE. "Whitney voluntarily entered the program to support her long-standing recovery process."

Houston, 47, has publicly battled drugs and alcohol in the past, entering rehab both in 2004 and 2005. Recently, Houston's 18-year-old daughter Bobbi Kristina has been caught up in an alleged cocaine scandal of her own.

Houston is allowed to leave her rehab facility with a monitor. "Just last weekend, Houston was enjoying herself at a Prince concert in LA ... with her daughter right by her side," TMZ writes.

A TMZ source adds that Houston's visit to rehab comes as "she's cleansing herself to get ready for a new movie."

I never claimed to be a singer. But, I am NOT is a washed up, drug addicted alcoholic! She wasted her talent and looks! (In that picture with the article, look how puffy she is!) Her "talent" is gone, that's why people leave her concerts, ask for their money back.

KTBeliebs! I HAVE to respond to YOUR inspid remarks ... Whitney Houston came way B4 Beyonce and Rhianna. Wannabe, give me a break! Know YOUR history. She IS the reason those two singers have been able to shine and grow in the music business. Whitney set a standard, especially for Black women in music. Whitney Houston has had her challenges BUT unless YOU have walked in her shoes be careful to be so cruel & critical. I hope those two young women can learn from her tragic mistakes. I do NOT care who YOU are or what YOU do BUT I do care that YOU remember the order AND Whitney was THE VOICE and there was time when she was EVERYWHERE doing her thing with perefection. Her fall from grace tragic and sad. She is worthy of our blessings and support!

She traded her good singing ability in the prime years of her life for alcohol and drugs. Then fell short when she tried to capture her talent that she threw out so she could be wasted. How sad.
