Neil Patrick Harris 'Stoked' to Host 2011 Tony Awards

Neil Patrick Harris has officially been named host of the 2011 Tony Awards and if all goes well, he'll be flying high once the curtain goes up -- literally.

"Since they're closed for retooling, we're using all the rigging equipment from 'Spider-Man.' What could possibly go wrong," Harris joked in a press release.

Although this will be Harris' second go at the Tony hosting gig -- he hosted the show to rave reviews in 2009 -- we can't imagine that his none-newbie status takes off any of the pressure to perform.

"I'm honored and stoked to have been asked to host the 2011 Tony Awards," he said. "It should be a great show -- we've got a fantastic mix of live performances [and] a few secret surprises."

Catch the 'How I Met Your Mother' actor and new dad when he takes the stage on June 12, live from the Beacon Theatre in New York City.

"We're thrilled to have Neil back as our host," executive producers, Ricky Kirshner and Glenn Weiss said. "And we're even happier he fits in the 'Spider-Man' rigging."

We have a feeling that these 'Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark' jabs are going to be more than a motif once the Tony curtain goes up.

Hollywierd's promotion of the gay agenda continues. What could this be other than an endorsement of his lifestyle? I won't be watching.

Do you even know anything about him besides the fact that he's gay? Or have you ever even seen any of his work. I can't people there are actually still people in this day and age that discriminate against people who have lifestyles and beliefs different to their own.

When Hugh Jackman hosted was it to promote heterosexuality? Harris has starred in 12 theatrical productions, so having him host the Tony's just makes sense. Did you watch when Sean Hayes or Nathan Lane hosted because - OMG! - they're gay and on Broadway too! Either way, I doubt you would've watched anyhow; ignorant fools probably don't care much for the theater.

being gay is not and never was a 'life'style. How you live is a life style. I'm 77 years old and i'll be 78 in July. I don't drink and never did, I don't smoke. I don't do drugs. I'm not a theif, a liar or any other known or unknown detriment to society. I've been with my partner 27 years, which is more than many heterosexuals are with any particular person. Those standards are what constitute a life style, not my sexual orientation, which incidentally just is! How utterly stuped people like you are. And if throw the 'choice' thing at me, let me ask you a question. When did choose to be a heterosexual, or were you just stuck with it. And me and my fellow homosexuals are the lucky ones 'cause we got to choose?

Broadway is a very special place, filled with very special people...people who can sing, and dance....often at the same time! NPH certainly fits the bill! The Tony Awards is the penultimate showcase of true entertainment talent...no CGI, no editing, just raw acting and singing prowess. Congrats to NPH for landing the gig!
