The much-hyped big-screen adaptation of the Broadway musical 'Rock of Ages' is all set to begin production in Miami on May 23 with a star-heavy cast that includes Tom Cruise, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Russell Brand, Paul Giamatti, Malin Akerman, Bryan Cranston, Mary J. Blige and Julianne Hough. Or should we say, "was" all set to begin production?Yesterday, New Line shot down rumors that Alec Baldwin, who was to play the owner of the Sunset Strip nightclub at the center of the movie, had dropped out of director Adam Shankman's film. Now, the studio is saying that Baldwin has asked to be replaced "if at all possible," according to Deadline.
Responding to reports that Baldwin was out of 'Ages,' New Line President Toby Emmerich told Deadline the actor had a newly discovered medical condition that he expected to have resolved before the start of production and that he was still set to star in the film. A few hours later, however, Emmerich again reached out to the website to say Baldwin wanted out of the film if possible.

he caught something bad from that lousy show he's been doing for 5 years.
Good riddance, he sucks as an actor. He is fat and ugly, he used to be good looking.

do you really think we care. funny how all you liberals seem to be the ones who get serious illness, weird diseases. maybe because you have so much hate for the conservatives who are the back bone of the US. it is time to shut down hollywood. baldwin we could care less why you left that show. i have never seen it or any of the other liberal shows. i have better things to do.

Hey Chartman, time to lighten up! There really IS more to life than whether one is a liberal (gasp!) or a conservative. You could actually enjoy yourself if you spend less time hating people who don't think like you. Try it sometime.
Better to keep your mouth shut and have people think you're an azzhole than to open your mouth and erase all doubt.
What the he!! are you talking about Chartman? Turn off FUX and learn to think for yourself if you still can.
Here's to a speedy recovery Alec. It would be worth being in the film to work alongside Byran Cranston. But unfortunately you'd have to deal with the disgusting Tom Cruise and Russell Brand.

Oh Alec, there's nothing medically wrong with you, it's called "old age"! LOL

This guy has sunk real low as a human being - I hope they can take care of that problem while he gets his other medical thing taken care of.

The medical condition is being fat and overbearing.
