Bristol Palin Admits to Jaw-Enhancing Surgery

Although Bristol Palin previously denied that surgery had anything to do with her drastically altered visage, now she's singing a different tune, admitting that she did, in fact, go through a procedure that gave her a sleek new jaw.

"I had corrective jaw surgery," Palin told Us Weekly. "Yes, it improved the way I look, but this surgery was necessary for medical reasons ... so my jaw and my teeth could properly realign ... I don't obsess over my face."

Palin admits that she had the surgery in December 2010, after her successful run on 'Dancing with the Stars.' And apparently a 'misaligned jaw' was a godsend for Palin who is 'thrilled' with her new look.

"I am absolutely thrilled with the results," she said. "I look older, more mature, and don't have as much of a chubby little baby face!"

Might this new look have anything do to with the fact that we'll be seeing much more of Palin in the coming months? Palin will star in a forthcoming reality show alongside 'DWTS' pal, Kyle Massey.

I don't know if it was necessary or not, I am not a medical professional, but I personally think she looked better before.

My son had to have jaw surgery (a 10 hr procedure) to correct an overbite. So don't discount her reason for doing it for being medical. If it made her look better, who cares. Now she can probably chew like a normal person.

why doesn't this dumb little girl stop parading as something she's not, and go to college (did she even graduate high school?) so that someday she might actually make a decision on her own. for chrissakes, she's having sex as a young teen openly in her mother's house, she drops out of school with her mother's blessings, and now she's having surgeries to improve her looks! what kind of family of idiots is this?

I know three people who had similar surgery. When I saw the photos of Bristol, it seemed she had the same work. The surgery deals with your bite and how the jaw is aligned. Most doctors tell people to wait until adulthood to fix the problem to see how the teeth and jaw aligns... Often it does change the face shape. Her chin before is very recessed. Just my two cents. More people need this surgery and don't opt for it.

Are you in dentistry? I am, and this was not done for medical reasons. She did not have a prognathic or retrognathic profile prior. Therefore, it was done for superficial reasons. And sorry, more people DO NOT need useless plastic surgery.

Allison, you say you are in dentistry, but are you a dentist, and more importantly are you her dentist. Unless you actually look at her teeth and the overbite you are no more capable of making a decision on whether she needed the surgery than any other reader is. And, this surgery moves the lower jaw forward, making the chin more promenent.

My daughter had this surgery about 8 years ago for the very same reason and yes it changed her look. The chin most noticeably and a 5 lbs weight loss from having her jaws wired shut, so maybe you should consider this while your attacking her.
