Jodie Foster is definitely not shying away from the complicated publicity her new film, 'The Beaver,' is attracting. In fact, she's smiling at the criticism -- good and bad.
"It's not like anything you've ever seen. It has a very wry, interesting tone. And if you can embrace that, you can embrace the title, too," Foster told PopEater.
It's a little ironic to see Mel Gibson playing the character of Walter Black in 'The Beaver.' For those who were living under a rock recently, Gibson was brutally scrutinized in the media when his audio tirades against baby mama Oksana Grigorieva leaked online.
"We just have to keep our eye on the fact that he delivers probably one of the best performances of his life." Watch our interview after the jump.

It's "wry," not "rye" in her quote.

Well, it tanked over the weekend so maybe Mel has shot his load just like he shoots off his foul, bigoted mouth.
I ADORE Jodie Foster's work! I have followed her career since Caro Jones first cast her...but I WILL NOT SEE THIS FILM because of Gibson, I'm sorry to say. Friend or not, talent or not, "performance of a lifetime" or not, I AM a man of integrity and I will be sitting this Jodie Foster project out! It speaks VOLUMES about Jodie Foster's loyalty as a friend but until MEL HIMSELF shows remorse, changes, gets help or changes his PR strategies...I'm not a fan of THIS particular film and all Jodie's PR will not change that that! TOO many talented people in this industry she could have cast or given a break...I am bummed (to have to shun Jodie's work) but I cannot support this man in any way!
Mel Gibson was wrong to say the things he said.
MARK WAHLBERG was wrong to DO the things HE DID. He called a Vietnamese man a racial slur and then beat him, blinding the man in one eye.
That's much worse than what Gibson did.
If they're gonna oust Gibson from Hollywood, why don't they do the same with Wahlberg?????
hang it up jody, mel`s career is dead in the water
stop talking about him people are tired of it.

I'm not
Though I've always liked Jodie, she needs to give it up. The movie came out last weekend and flopped- she's just trying to save face at this point. Mel's done.

Jodi Foster is a great actress and an equally great director. Her film was only opened limited and will open wider soon. Mel Gibson is an amazing actor who does not bring his home problems to work. I haven't seen this film yet but I know I will love it. Everyone needs to base things on performance, not personal lives and issues.

I have always been a fan of Gilbson and will continue to be. He is a great actor and at the end, that's what matters. I pay to see a good movie. His problems with the Russian woman are not my concern.

Jodie Foster has a floppy Beaver.

RIP the both of you..
The movie "tanked" over the weekend, you say? Well, I for one have been waiting 2 months for its release and was greatly disappointed to see it was only playing in stinky old San Francisco. I'll wait for the DVD if I have to.

You mean 'beautiful scenic stinky old San Francisco'. After all, when five million people flush in the same bay, every morning, it's gotta have seasonal colours. And Mel promised he'd leave Hollywood for Down Under. You lied Mel. Tell your ex-wife.

"The Beaver", described in the Popeater as an effort by the aging Jodie Foster. Appropriate.

Who calls a movie "The Beaver"? I wont see this stupid movie just because of the title - how insulting and degrading. There are a gazillion other words to use - why use this title? Stupid title, stupid cast and stupid movie. Hope it falls in the trash can like stupid Mel.
