Jodie Foster is definitely not shying away from the complicated publicity her new film, 'The Beaver,' is attracting. In fact, she's smiling at the criticism -- good and bad.
"It's not like anything you've ever seen. It has a very wry, interesting tone. And if you can embrace that, you can embrace the title, too," Foster told PopEater.
It's a little ironic to see Mel Gibson playing the character of Walter Black in 'The Beaver.' For those who were living under a rock recently, Gibson was brutally scrutinized in the media when his audio tirades against baby mama Oksana Grigorieva leaked online.
"We just have to keep our eye on the fact that he delivers probably one of the best performances of his life." Watch our interview after the jump.

In my estimation, Jodie Foster is one of the greatest actress' ever to be in movies. Anything she touches turns to gold. On the other hand, Mel Gibson has been steadily shooting himself in the foot. I consider his acting ability right up there with Ms Fosters. I can't wait to see the duo in action. What Mel does offscreen is his concern, but as long as he makes good movies that I like, who the hell cares? He's no Sheen weirdo. Go Jodie, Go Mel, do your stuff!

I saw Jodie and Mel on the set durin filming of Maverick and could see how happy they were during breaks. If anyone can help Mel turn it around after some pretty bad behavior and really bad choices, she and their friendship can. Give them both a chance. And I can't wait to see the movie. And hooray for Jodie's courage. We need more people like her around to save the human race from it's petty self.

It has received nothing but horrible reviews. Evn the New York Times who usually love this genre, said the stuffed Beaver gave the best performance. And what else do you expect the director to say at a PRESS junket...hey we know it sucks, he sucks & I suck but please give us money anyway...

I will always like Mel he was great in Tequilla Sunrise with Kurt Russell and Michelle and also the movie Forever Young and also Legal weapons 1,2,3,4, and also his other movies he's made over the years. So whoever else doesn't like Mel can just go to hell I like Mel forever and ever.

When you have a brother that is a alcoholic, and another one that gets like Charlie Sheen whenever he drinks... I think you should not judge anyone by what they say while intoxicated. I would love to have Mel produce my Animation Project and work with Rythm & Hues on celebrity voices... THE SMUG LITTLE LADY BUG
Maybe he could get Jodie Foster to narrate it for us... Paul M. Moffett Founder of Moffett Entertainment.

Judging from some of the hateful things said here... you all must be drinking... That is my point... when you drink you say hateful things... that you would normally keep to yourself...
