Report: Hugh Grant Considered Replacing Charlie Sheen on 'Two and Half Men'

Romantic comedy go-to guy Hugh Grant was in final negotiations to replace
Charlie Sheen on 'Two and a Half Men,' according to
Deadline, which reports Grant was offered $1 million per episode to take over for the troubled star.
Grant, whose last film, 2009's 'Did You Hear About the Morgans?' failed to connect with audiences, allegedly pulled out of the negotiations at the last minute due to creative differences.
The 'Notting Hill' actor currently has no films in the works, so he certainly would have had the time to swoop in and rescue the troubled series. Warner Bros and CBS had said they were pursuing "an A-lister" to step in for Sheen, who was fired from the top-rated sitcom following a very public dust up with show creator Chuck Lorre, CBS and Warner Bros.
Bringing in the British actor to replace Sheen would have certainly marked a major change in the creative direction of the CBS sitcom, which before its shutdown earlier this year was among the highest-rated shows on television.
Lorre, who is also the showrunner for CBS' 'Mike & Molly' and 'The Big Bang Theory,' has considered ending 'Men' entirely, and only wants to move forward with a reboot of the show "if he can find the right actor and get excited about that," sources close to 'Men' tell
Deadline. Also important to Lorre is that Sheen's replacement is "somebody Chuck can work with."
Though he isn't quite the star he was during his 'Bridget Jones' Diary'-'About a Boy' heyday, Grant remains pretty A-list and could have been exactly the turnaround the show needs to move forward post-Sheen.

I think Hugh would be great in the role, and he's better looking!!

EXCELLENT choice!
I agree. I love Hugh Grant and frankly he seems to fit the part perfectly. Sadly I don't think however, he would take the job.
Hugh Grant is definitely a good replacement. Another womanizing pig!
If he can stay away from the prostitutes. He also has a ho problem.
I love Hugh Grant and his little boy saracastic manner! I think he is a great choice. Now I will watch the show.
"somebody Chuck can work with."
Good luck. Maybe he should pull a Cheney and do it himself.
Now if Hugh Grant takes the show I think I will watch it, couldn't stand watching that show before because of C. Shean.

Sheen "is" the show. It does not exist without him. What is Hugh Grant going to do? Throw in some English-tart jokes/references?
I like them both. I have stopped watching two and a half men though because of this. I if someone else takes over, I will start watching it again
Benwa: Agreed! Sheen IS the show!
amen to that - I love Hugh Grant and I CAN'T stand Charlie Sheen - have never liked the male primadona!!
I agree! If Hugh Grant played the part, I would watch it! I have never understood the appeal Charlie Sheen seems to have on some people. From my perspective, they may get more viewers this way!! It's too bad they couldn't work things out with Hugh Grant. As a side note, I don't think its healthy for people to feed the Sheen monster. His ego is big enough. Lets please leave the tiger-blooded hominid alone and maybe he will go away.
Hugh Laurie maybe, since he can do the American accent well.
Can Grant do the same?
Otherwise how are he and Allan brothers?
Or the ol'Brother from a different Mother?

Seriously - would Hugh play a relative or friend? Like a cousin from across the pond? I don't think it would work either way, but this is still interesting.
Who cares? I find Sheen's character disgusting anyway.
CHARLIE SHEEN IS THE SHOW
and
I WANT HIM BACK!!!
I love Hugh but give me a break
Hugh Laurie already has a job. He is the star of the popular show "House" on Fox. Please try to keep up.
I love Hugh Grant, never watched 'Two and Half Men' but I will if Grant is on!!

You've never seen the show but you would watch it because of Hugh Grant???? Thats just about the stupidest thing I have heard in awhile. The whole show is about Charlie's character. You cant have that show without him anymore than you could have "Roseanne" without Roseanne Barr.
