Report: Hugh Grant Considered Replacing Charlie Sheen on 'Two and Half Men'

Romantic comedy go-to guy Hugh Grant was in final negotiations to replace
Charlie Sheen on 'Two and a Half Men,' according to
Deadline, which reports Grant was offered $1 million per episode to take over for the troubled star.
Grant, whose last film, 2009's 'Did You Hear About the Morgans?' failed to connect with audiences, allegedly pulled out of the negotiations at the last minute due to creative differences.
The 'Notting Hill' actor currently has no films in the works, so he certainly would have had the time to swoop in and rescue the troubled series. Warner Bros and CBS had said they were pursuing "an A-lister" to step in for Sheen, who was fired from the top-rated sitcom following a very public dust up with show creator Chuck Lorre, CBS and Warner Bros.
Bringing in the British actor to replace Sheen would have certainly marked a major change in the creative direction of the CBS sitcom, which before its shutdown earlier this year was among the highest-rated shows on television.
Lorre, who is also the showrunner for CBS' 'Mike & Molly' and 'The Big Bang Theory,' has considered ending 'Men' entirely, and only wants to move forward with a reboot of the show "if he can find the right actor and get excited about that," sources close to 'Men' tell
Deadline. Also important to Lorre is that Sheen's replacement is "somebody Chuck can work with."
Though he isn't quite the star he was during his 'Bridget Jones' Diary'-'About a Boy' heyday, Grant remains pretty A-list and could have been exactly the turnaround the show needs to move forward post-Sheen.

Still say the best way to go is to have the "absent, invisible" Charlie. Same story line & jokes, just work around a not there character. It's been done before & worked. Charlie's character is so established, put Charlie Harper in rehab & continue on around him!!!!!!!!

Hugh Grant would have been the best replacement. CBS would have a real winner!

How about Charlie dies and Alans takes over, and he trys to do like Charlie. A male cousin moves in who also needs room and board, and Charlie signesd the house over to him so he can not be kicked out! but the cousin only pretends he is goofy and he ends up running circles around Alan for women. Add in Berta and Jake and Wala!
PS Hugh Grant is a terrible choice, however it would be real intersting to see how they would add him to the show. He ois defin itely not a favorite of mine!

i'd rather see mickey mouse instead of hugh grant

well they both have an affinity for hookers.

Terrible choice. Simply have Herb separate from Judith and move in with Alan and Jake. Jon Cryer and the supporting cast have ALWAYS carried Sheen anyway. He should be the top billed star. Then, the show goes on, fresh and funny.

I am absolutely thrilled, as well as my family, that Hugh Grant will be the replacement, and a truly wonderful choice. He's a great performer, great personality, and love that accent, and handsome smile. He's no REPLACEMENT,HE'S THE NEW STAR JOINING JON- in a delightful and "scheduled show to view every week". I thank the producers/directors for their wise choice. Another 20 years for this show!!!

An Englishman with an American brother and mother...interesting.

John Stamos, would be a good replacement for loser Charlie Sheen. Forget Hugh Grant he's English but can anyone understand what he says.

John Stamos would be a better choice than Hugh Grant.

Yeah, I like the way this sounds. Charlie is washed up and needs to move on. Besides, he had that whole tour thing going on! Why what would he do with all those groupie/hookers/next ex-wives if he didnt leave room on his schedule for them now that its all over!!! Weve done good so far watching rerun after rerun, whats a new guy gonna hurt? A good lookin one at that? If it doesnt last, oh well, the ratings will be proof wont they? Two and a half men w/o Charlie? Um , it can happen....bu bye :)

Charlie Sheen makes the show. If he is replaced, I give them one more season.

no way will I watch the show if Hugh Grant replaces Charlie, can't stand him never have,, now I think Christin Slater would be perfect, he's funny, whitty..and a great guy!!!

grant sucks, i wont watch...

I can understand "creative differences" Men has gotten stale and predictable, filled with the same rehashed scripts. I really don't understand how it made it through last season. The drivel people will watch.

I think Hugh Grant is funny enough to pull it off, but what about his accent? That may be a roadblock, just sayin...

I would have started watching the show again if they had cast Hugh Grant. I watched about half a seson a few years ago and it just seemed like the same episode over and over. Hugh Grant would have worked very well with the talented Jon Cryer. Reconsider Hugh!!!

Why couldnt charlie just run off with someone to another country and leave the house to his brother who has to get a room mate to help with bills, even if he owns it? That could open up a variety of possibilities.

Sheen was lucky that they hired him for the role in the 1st place. He would be nothing with out the rest of the cast and the great writers. Since he decided to jump the shark that doesn't mean a great actor could not take his place and do a better job.
