Sarah Ferguson: Royal Wedding Snub Was 'So Difficult'

Sarah Ferguson was purposely left off the Royal Wedding guest list last month and she admitted to Oprah Winfrey that the snub left her feeling pretty lousy.

According to E! Online, the infamous Duchess of York, who was once married to Prince Andrew, told Winfrey that being left out of the big day was "so difficult," adding, "I wanted to be there with my girls...to be getting them dressed and to go as a family."

Her daughters, Princesses Eugenie and Beatrice, attended the wedding with their father, and caused quite a stir with their interesting wardrobe choices for the big event.

Ferguson understands why she was not welcome at the royal event, but said it still stung to be an outsider.

"I went through the phase of feeling so totally worthless and that [it] was quite right they didn't invite me. Why would they, why would they invite me?" she asked. Ferguson also noted that it was hard because "the last bride up that aisle was me," she said, referring to her 1986 wedding to Prince Andrew.

So while the royal family celebrated at the wedding and receptions, Ferguson decided to go on vacation to get out of London. "I chose to go and be in Thailand in a place called Camelia...the jungle embraced me," she told Winfrey.

The Duchess also touched on the subject of Will and Harry's mother, Princess Diana, who was certainly missed on that special day.

"I think Diana would be proud of her son," she said. "Both of them, you know? They did a great job."

Winfrey's interview with Ferguson, whose new show 'Finding Sarah' premieres on the OWN network next month, airs Wednesday.

I can see why it was difficult because in most families all the exes are invited to every social occasion especially their ex husbands nephew's wedding. lol

She isn't related to him her EX husband is related.
I know I didn't invite my Dad's exwife or my Mom's exhusband to my wedding. I certainly didn't invite my Aunt's and Uncle's ex spouses. How silly, who would have expected an invite. This is starting to scare me, I hope my ex husbands children don't invite me to their weddings. What would be the right attire for that...

I think it absolutely terrible that Sara F was not invited to the wedding; she is the mother of the 2 princesses; hasn't done anything so horrible; those involved were a bunch of cowards to not insist on her being invited--shame on you all!!

Publicity hog - fault Oprah for even considering having her on the show.

Am sure she had something to do with her daughters and their dress/hats on the wedding day - they looked ridiculous and their father should have done something about it. Appears they might be as big of publicity hogs as their mothers.

Beginning to wonder why she and Andrew live in same house - probably either because she would be out on the streets otherwise or he divorced to appease his mother and is still sleeping with her.

Why wasn't she procecuted for trying to bribe people with access to ex-husband?

i know how you feel I went thru same thing and still going thru hard times with my own son thats hard BUT Sarah doesn't do any good to dwell on anything life goes on, and the more they know it hurts the worse they get just heads up and good luck we love ya I feel bad for the boys Will and Harry, cuz they probably wanted you there your fun LOL WHAT gets me Camila was aLLOWED to go THE JOKE OF A LIFE TIME she's got balls to show her face there? she was only their aunt for a couple of years when they were young. do they even remember her? she is the ex of their uncle. i wouldn't invite the ex of my uncle to a wedding. unless she was very close to me and had been my aunt the entire time i was growing up. she has lived in the states for a lot of the time. i doubt they have seen much of her. she is only their cousin's mom. no relation to them whatsoever. and why does everyone blame her for the way they dress. have you tried telling your girls that are in your teens and 20's what to wear? i think they are quite capable of dressing themselves and i really doubt sarah wanted to steal kate's thunder by having her kids looks terrible. maybe the princess's just have really bad taste. maybe the queen dressed them. maybe they took advice from the maid. who knows? but i doubt sarah flew over there and dressed them herself. and if my mom gave me a ridiculous hat to wear before i boarded a plane i would have "conveniently" lost it!" lighten up on sarah a bit. she made some bad choices, but she's not a horrible person.

Sarah is still very much a part of that family. She still LIVES with her ex-husband and her daughters. A very well known fact. She and Andrew are the best of friends, have always been best friends, and the four of them are a family. Has she made mistakes....you bet! Have any of us made mistakes? You bet! Let her be. She sure does not have to answer to any of us. She has to live with her choices, not us. Why do people LOVE to trash people when they are down?

The mere fact that she went on Oparah,it makes it impossible for her to be invited to anything in the Royal family. She will get and invite I suppose, when her children are getting married. Sarah have broken to many royal protocal. When have anyone one in the royal family appear a talk show? never! She knew the rules, and should have abide by them, she choose to marry into the Royal. I think Americans make to many excuses for her.
