Princess Beatrice Planning to Auction Off Royal Wedding Hat

Princess Beatrice caused quiet a stir at the Royal Wedding with her choice of headwear when she wore a blush colored headpiece to the event.

She is now planning to auction off the (in)famous hat and donate the proceeds.

Beatrice's mother Duchess Sarah Ferguson revealed the news to told Oprah Winfrey on her show when she said, "She's putting it up on eBay to auction it for UNICEF and for Children in Crisis"

PEOPLE is reporting that the hat was created by renowned London milliner Philip Treacy, whose creations can cost around $3,000.

The headpiece was an instant eye catcher and grabbed headlines around the world. It even has its own Facebook page and has been compared to everything from a giant pretzel to a toilet seat.

There has been some speculation about whether Beatrice was putting that hat up for sale because it received a lot of negative comments.

But Beatrice defended her fashion choice in an interview with Grazia magazine (via The Daily Mail) where she said, "I think it's wonderful that it's had a reaction, it is just a hat after all, and now it has got its own Facebook page and so many fans. It's an incredible response to that hat really, I'm glad it provoked so much conversation."

If anyone is willing to buy that hat, Beatrice should have a set of braces on her teeth.

I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw that hiddious, awful hat during the wedding!!! it looks like something from Tellie Tubbies, childrens show? and it does absolutely NOTHING for Beatrice in the least! too bad she cannot go back in a time machine and choose something with a tad bit of taste and elegance that would have framed her face better and looked a little more regal, or royal? those two girls might be just wonderful people for all I know, but they have the worst taste in fashion? I know better than they do and I am a guy for gods sake!!

In all the reviews of this hat i've seen it described as looking like many things. But everytime I see it I think it looks like a spider and no one ever says that. Am I the only one?
