Alex Pettyfer to Play Channing Tatum in Stripper Film

Hollywood "bad boy" Alex Pettyfer has signed on to play a male stripper. That news alone is enough to have Hollywood talking about the oft-criticized 'Beastly' star, but there's a twist. He'll reportedly star as a young Channing Tatum in a film based on Tatum's male-stripper-turned-movie-star life story.

According to Deadline, Tatum will also star in the Steven Soderbergh-directed film, dubbed 'Magic Mike,' as the title character who mentors a young dancer (Pettyfer) on how to hustle both on stage and in life. The story is said to follow Tatum's own experiences as a young man working as a stripper when he was 19 years old.

Soderbergh cites 'Saturday Night Fever' as an inspiration for the film, which he has called "sexy, funny and shocking."

News of Tatum's past career surfaced last summer, when it was revealed that in 1999 the 'Dear John' actor worked as a dancer in the Florida male revue club Male Encounter. His stripper name? "Chan Crawford."

Although it seems out of character for Tatum, it eventually led to a lead role in the 2006 dance movie 'Step Up,' where he met his wife, Jenna Dewan.

In case you were wondering what the 'G. I. Joe' star looked like on stage, Us Weekly managed to get its hands on a video of the actor in action.

Maybe Pettyfer can use the clip as inspiration for his new role.

Oh I don't know. I have a funny feeling him and his wife have a rule of not letting themselves go and his career is heavily weighed on his physical appearence.

This should be quite interesting since we know Channing can move (and who cares if he was a male entertainer when he was younger. He did what he had to do. No shame)but I don't know about our dear Alex. He's sexy and all but booty shaking skills is hard to learn as we all know by watching Dancing With The Stars.
