'American Idol' Top Three Revealed: Who Was Eliminated? (VIDEO)

Top Four has been an odd time in 'American Idol' history. As Ryan Seacrest pointed out at the close of the performance episode, it was at this point in the competition that Chris Daughtry was eliminated back in season five.

Other fourth place finishers include Tamyra Gray, Josh Gracin, LaToya London, Jason Castro and Allison Iraheta, so it doesn't mean the end of the road. Sure, only Daughtry came out of it with a monster career so far, but many of these people have been able to go on and make music their career in some way.

Girls were the first five eliminated, but since then Lauren and Haley have outlasted four guys in a row. Could they continue their streak and send Scotty or James home, or would the boys make a comeback. It's such a tight field this season, it was difficult to predict what might happen.

!!SPOILER ALERT!!

Lauren was the first sent to safety, leaving Haley to sweat it out next to the boys who've never even seen the Bottom Two or Three. Haley's been there four times.

But then Ryan Seacrest declared that there would be two girls in the Top Three, sending Haley to safety and America torn. Are we to lose the metal rocker or the country prodigy?

It turns out being young and adorable still holds some weight, along with his almost flawless country vocals. Scotty made it in there and America had to say goodbye to James Durbin.

"I did so much stuff that's never been done on this show before," he said of his metal and hard rock stage performances. Truly, James left his mark on 'American Idol.' Now, he can move on to leave his mark on the music industry.

Maybe he'll found a band and name it his last name and we'll all watch as Durbin shoots to the top of the charts.

Ryan Seacrest did "let the cat out of the bag" on Wed evening, making reference to Chris Daughtery leaving at this stage of the game, and Chris has made it big on radio and in concert tours, even opening for Jon BonJovi and others! James Durbin, I have no doubt was given a contract before this evening's show! We'll be hearing alot of him on the radio, and with his huge fan base, he'll have no problem selling out concerts, and I wouldn't be surprised if James Durbin opened in concert for Aerosmith too!
If Haley is winner or runner up, then this year's idol is terribly fixed! Scotty McCreery and Lauren Alaina should be winner/runner up.

With James gone, there is absolutely no reason to continue watching the remaining weeks of Idol. Looking forward to his performance week after week and now who is left? Two country and Haley. Sorry America....but you got it WRONG!!
James, wishing you only the best!

Totally agree! James is the stuff. Haley should have been shown the door weeks ago and Scotty is just plain goofy

I was left speachless when James got sent home. He was the only one with enough versatile talent and skill to hold ones attention. He could sing the phone book as the old saying goes. I looked forward to every show just to see what he was going to blow me away with next. I agree with so many more that if Haley is the next Idol, it is a fixed show. Got the feeling that James will have a career ahead of him. Not so sure about Haley and Scotty. Lauren might have a chance at stardom but she has some growing up to do. Best wishes to James and his family.

I absolutly agree. I thought this was supposed to be a singing contest...NOT a popularity contest. Haley should be gone. She has a bad attitude and her growling is getting old real fast. The voting is done wrong. Everyone should be able to vote only once for each contestant. The way it is now they can just sit on the phone for 2 hrs. for one person. This is not an accurate count!

being said, I liked James also! So sad that he is gone! I wish
James the best!!

James Durbin should have won American Idol! He has incredible range and as the judges said, he can sing anything. Plus he is the sole rockstar! What a shame the voters are so clueless.
