'American Idol' Top Three Revealed: Who Was Eliminated? (VIDEO)

Top Four has been an odd time in 'American Idol' history. As Ryan Seacrest pointed out at the close of the performance episode, it was at this point in the competition that Chris Daughtry was eliminated back in season five.

Other fourth place finishers include Tamyra Gray, Josh Gracin, LaToya London, Jason Castro and Allison Iraheta, so it doesn't mean the end of the road. Sure, only Daughtry came out of it with a monster career so far, but many of these people have been able to go on and make music their career in some way.

Girls were the first five eliminated, but since then Lauren and Haley have outlasted four guys in a row. Could they continue their streak and send Scotty or James home, or would the boys make a comeback. It's such a tight field this season, it was difficult to predict what might happen.

!!SPOILER ALERT!!

Lauren was the first sent to safety, leaving Haley to sweat it out next to the boys who've never even seen the Bottom Two or Three. Haley's been there four times.

But then Ryan Seacrest declared that there would be two girls in the Top Three, sending Haley to safety and America torn. Are we to lose the metal rocker or the country prodigy?

It turns out being young and adorable still holds some weight, along with his almost flawless country vocals. Scotty made it in there and America had to say goodbye to James Durbin.

"I did so much stuff that's never been done on this show before," he said of his metal and hard rock stage performances. Truly, James left his mark on 'American Idol.' Now, he can move on to leave his mark on the music industry.

Maybe he'll found a band and name it his last name and we'll all watch as Durbin shoots to the top of the charts.

this goes to show you the show is rigged 1st why on wed nite after they ripped on haley did they change the order never before been done realy think fox has screwed up once again all of a sudden 70 million votes lol and they never tell you who got what it is a shame james was always in the lead and oh ya where did all his votes go cant tell me everyone quit voting for him no way it is wrong and a joke idol is going down for the count

Watching American Idol this season has been a waste of time. James Dubin going home was the biggest mistake this show has ever allowed to happen. Haley is terrible and clearly should have been the choice. James will go on and develop a career, Scotty is a Country Star but not an Idol, and the rest who cares. I will never watch the show again, and urge America to watch the Voice, atleast its based on talent. Steven Tyler needs to get back to Aerosmith. His video was terrible and just another let down on the show. Simon Cowell would have done somtheing with this mistake. Hang in there James, you were the best.

Yep, the judges/show pretty much hung James out to dry on Wednesday.

1. Even if Haley wasn't your favorite, the judges pissed off people enough by bashing her round one song that she got a lot of sympathy votes. She isn't my favorite at all but I thought her first song sounded nice and I didn't understand why the judges were being so harsh so close finish line. It was as though two of the judges were trying to convince us she should leave.

2. Letting James open AND close the show, thereby changing the singing order in round two seemed somehow fishy. They gave everyone other than James less time to prepare between the two songs and then let James open and close, possibly losing him some more votes for those thinking it was rigged or unfair somehow.

Pretty sure those two factors pulled enough votes towards the others enough to leave James packing his bags.

Well thats the end of that show. James was the show and it was always exciting listening to him. He was not only by far the best but always consistant again and again.
Who the heck is voting out there.......

WOW, The only true entertainer on the show was kicked off, look for 2 BORRING weeks ahead. Rich Kid, Spoiled Teenager and Country Boy.... Oh well, I'm sure all the kids will be fine; I don't intend on watching the last two weeks.

James should have not been voted off, Haley should have been gone weeks ago. James, I have 2 words for you, Chris Daughtry. If Haley wins, I'm done with idol.

Haley should never have gotten this far. Sort of like Taylor Hicks. . . awful. Would love to have seen Lauren and James in the finals with James winning. With the 3 that are left, Lauren should win hands down. With the hundreds of thousands of people that tried out, you can't tell me that these are the best. Voters must be deaf!!!

I'm a grandmother and certainly not a hard rock fan but I think that James Durbin was the most talented in the entire final eleven and I hope he continues with a killer career. He not only has a huge talent but also a huge heart - it was lovely to see the way he cared for his family.

Will not watch anymore. The only ones left are children...too cute, talent no where near James Durbin.

what are people thinking???Scotty over James. James has one of the best voices Idol has ever seen. I won't continue watching now. Hope James has a good manager & moves on. The other 2 will wind up like Ruben or Fantasia not doing much. Well maybe Lauren will do ok, she is cute & has a great voice. Haley is boring & Scotty is awkward.

We all have our own opinion and they were all great, some better than others but no one person ran away with the show and is an obvious winner. Its been tough and just because you dont like a certain kind of music does not mean they dont deserve to win. James was great but it was his time and the others had more of a following. Haley is not a loser she has a different kind of voice and can not sing all kinds but sounds great, just cause scotty is like a clown he has great pipes. You are not standing where they are so chill out and enjoy.

You are right. There has been no stand-out winner this season, unlike the previous season when Crystal Bowersox stood out from the beginning, or season 8's Adam Lambert. James has great stage presence, is an exciting performer, but not a great singer. If he is that good, then let's see what the industry does with him.

I can't believe Haley made it this long but to last longer than James is a crime..that's just wrong. Haley has such a nasty attitude and really, other than a few good songs, her other's were awful! I don't know that I will watch the rest of the season! When someone like James gets sent packing and someone like Haley is stil there, it really makes you wonder about the voting system and that it needs to be looked at and changed because it's ruining the integrity of the show.

James Durbin did win! He's undoubtedly agreed to sign a recording contract, and like Chris Daughtery, he'll soon be heard on the radio, in concert and perhaps opening for "Aerosmith?" Haley should've been gone, gone, gone, long ago! However, fate may have it, she could be the winner! However, the most consistent, talented, humble, down home, "American as Mom & APPLE PIE," are Scotty McCreery and Lauren Alaina, 16 & 17 year old young people with good attitudes and great vocals in the country genre! Scotty & Lauren should be winner & runner up! Best wishes to all the contestants!

First there was Adam Lambert then Crystal Bowersox and now James Durbin there is something very wrong with this show. These three people were very very entertaining and they were never in the bottom three.But yet they lose. I think I have had enough of watching this show. For I watched every season but because how the finals end up every year I think I am not going to watch anymore. Time to watch "The Voice"
