Boston Rob Finally Wins 'Survivor,' Goes Straight Back to Work

If it wasn't cemented sometime in the decade since "Boston" Rob Mariano's 'Survivor' debut in season four, he's now a professional reality TV guy.

Moments after winning the $1 million title of 'Sole Survivor' during his fourth shot at playing the game, Boston Rob told PopEater at the Ed Sullivan Theater in NYC on Sunday night he wouldn't have much time for celebration.

"I'm going to work tomorrow. I'm doing a new show for the History Channel called 'Around the World in 80 Ways,'" Rob said. "Gotta make a dollar, brother."

Making a buck is indeed one of the Rob-father's specialties; he masterminded "Survivor: Redemption Island" to a flawless win and also took home the $100,000 Sprint Fan Favorite prize. Despite all that cash -- and the fact his wife, Amber, won $1 million on "Survivor: All Stars" in 2004 -- Rob won't kick back any time soon.

"After 10 years [in TV], I've learned the production side of things and I'm really interested in that and I wanna get involved in that," he told us.

As for betrayed alliance member Grant Mattos' sentiments that he hadn't forgiven Rob even months after the show filmed, Rob didn't seem overly fazed.

"Man, you're playing a game for a million dollars -– if you draw yourself a line in the sand, I think you're just handicapping yourself. And I'm not gonna do that. I might as well stay home if I'm gonna do that. I wish things had worked out differently with Grant, but every man's entitled to their opinion," Rob told us. "You learn to play the game and you learn to adapt and I think that's important no matter what you do in life, to always go to the next level."

Fourth-place player Ashley Underwood told PopEater she had a hard time being bitter about losing in the face of Rob's big win. "It's such a story, and he played the best game I think anyone has ever played. I'm proud of him," Ashley said. "He's a good guy. He deserved it."

With Boston Rob's 'Survivor' success story drawing to a close, we'd love to see a memoir from him. Something like 'How to Get Anyone to Trust You in Four Easy Steps,' 'On Living and Growing a Sweet Mustache,' 'I Survived 39 Days with Phillip Sheppard (And Don't Forget Coach),' or, simply, 'The Rob-Father,' perhaps?

I wonder what Robs profession was ,if any,before he became a survivor contestant,or;did he ever work at a all? Im just curious,because he looks,talks an acts ,like a small time smarmy,slacker,shyster.The guy you saw on the game is the same one you would see on his street.I Belive.
Would you buy a rolex from this guy.LOL

Well I agree Rob deserved to win the million for the way he played the game. But I feel that the winner should not also win the 100.000 should be given to the next person if the winner is also the favorite. Seems only fair to me, Matty endured the most on this Survior Season and was number two in fan votes. I was praying he would get the 100,000 he was great. Great cast of characters, but Grant get over it, it was a GAME. Phillip you are a nut and a grown man in pink panties ??? Makes me wonder. Nothing special about you except your craziness, please get help.

Didn't Rob get sick last time around and have to leave? Any other person that had to leave get a second chance? NOOO Now we are forced to see him again. Why bother to have the show if you just recycle. I stopped watching last 3 seasons because they lost their originality and they keep inviting the same people back.

You'd have to be pretty stupid not to learn how to win after 4 tries. I don't think he did anything but play off the gullability of those around him. He is good at sucking the ilfe out of others.

Congrats Rob, it only took you 4 times to get it right. Talk about a advantage. He knew what it took to be out there and the laws of the land, and not just viewing it on TV. Put him on a show with previous people that were on there again and he wouldn't have won, again. Me, me, me, me, me, me. What a loser. Now he wants to be with his family and he's off doing a show being away from his infant children. That's a real stand-up dad. Heck, he lies as good after the show as on it. Money doesn't solve everything there Rob.

yep. i agree, steve. rob was lucky enough to get on a team with minions. if he would have went to the other tribe, they would have seen right through him and voted him off like they did Russell. with that being said, Rob deserved to win. Phillip needs to be on Survivor to increase the ratings. I laughed my head off.

i would not vote for Rob for dog catcher. how greedy can you get? if he was a good guy and a sport of any kind he would have given Matt that 100,000. I wanted the marine to win for serving this country and if he could not win I wanted Matt to win, he is such a good christian and a good guy with a great testimony. I doubt Boston Rob even knows the Lord. I can't believe anyone voted for Boston Rob.his wife already has a million, spread the love.
i could not understand why Phillip talked the way he did to some of those doing the judging, he hurt hisself and he sure has to be smarter then Boston Rwith all he has one in his life. Now his life is about serving his country and what a success story he is. my hat is off to him

Russell's tribe was smart, they voted him off. Rob's tribe was dumb, they kept him knowing he played the game before. I like Rob, but there were 2 other players that were better. The first winner Richard. I didn't like him but the game was never played before and he knew how to play the game. Sandra my boricua girl who won it twice. One more thing, it's funny that when someone is voted off they always say "at least I can live with myself for playing it the right way." Wow, before they got there they were thinking about winning the money anyway they can. Also, all the winners deserve to win because one thing I've learned is, there is no one way to win the game.

rob got lucky getting on the tard team, if he was on the other team he would have been toast.

It seems shocking to some of you that there really are some people who preferr honor an integrity to wealth and that says a lot about you.
