Are Lady Gaga and Madonna Related?
They both don the title 'queen of pop,' they both have an aversion to pants and a few of their hits (ahem, 'Born This Way') sounds shockingly similar -- it only makes sense that
Lady Gaga and
Madonna are related.
"They are ninth cousins once removed," celebrity genealogist, Chris Child, told the
The Boston Globe.
Both Madonna (Louise Veronica Ciccone) and Gaga (Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta) are descendant of a French immigrant couple who landed in Quebec in the 1600s.
"When I saw that Lady Gaga had French Canadian ancestry I thought there might be something there,'' Child said.
So is it safe to say that these two Quebecois immigrants were responsible for spawning not one but two legendary pop divas? Indeed, it is. Perhaps their familial relationship is the reason Madonna stayed quiet when it came to the controversy surrounding Gaga's 'Born This Way' anthem, which sounded a little too much like Madonna's 'Express Yourself.'
Looks like these two will be adding a few more seats to their holiday dinner tables.

yeah...that's not really true. Why does lady Gaga dress weird if she is such a "Great" talent. She cant sing, her voice isnt good at all. Have you heard Judas and Born this way?? Their not enhanced??

I'm probably a closer relative to either of them than 9th cousin. I remember "back in the day" that it was said that people from a European background were within something like 6th to 7th cousins.

Isn't Madonna and Gwen Stefani related also? I remember something about their great-grandfathers or grandfathers being brothers? Don't know if that link is on their mother's side or fathers side of the family tree.

A good geneaologist will likely also find that Celine Dion is related. I believe that Hillary Clinton is also tied into French Canadian ancestry. As for me, I am related to them all. It only takes one French Canadian grandparent.

To be fair, Cheney and Obama have a closer degree of ancestry than Gaga and Madonna. They're split by 6 or 7 cousins.
