Maria Shriver Dined With Oprah Night Before Scandal Broke

The night before news hit that former California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger had a child out wedlock, his wife Maria Shriver dined with Oprah Winfrey. PEOPLE reports the former First Lady of California joined Winfrey, her beau Stedman Graham and Winfrey's best friend Gayle King met at Chicago's RL Restaurant.

"She was there with her daughters," a source told PEOPLE. "The reservation was in Oprah's name." The group stayed "for several hours," the source said.

RadarOnline.com reports Shriver found out the news was about to break while at this dinner. Maria had a very animated, very emotional 15 minute phone call," a source told RadarOnline. "She was very upset and from what she was saying, it was obvious that she was getting some stunning news. She left the dinner right after the call.

Earlier Tuesday, Shriver asked for compassion and privacy just hours after it was revealed that her husband of 25 years had fathered a child with a member of their household staff.

"This is a painful and heartbreaking time," Shriver said in a statement to the media. "As a mother, my concern is for the children. I ask for compassion, respect and privacy as my children and I try to rebuild our lives and heal. I will have no further comment."

They have four children, ranging in age from 13 to 21. One of them, 17-year-old Patrick, took to Twitter today to say he "feels like s**t" but loves his family.

The baby was not a secret like anything else money talks and records can be sealed.Who knows even with Hummers and run over a bump,you know what is yours.The child being ten and his features start showing and people just say cute little things and say "OH ,he wouldn't go that far".Terminators destroy and we can not be blindsided on the DNA of what man is capable of and yes his children will forgive and move forward but I pray that they value a mother's worth and respect even in their relationships be honest and loving without pain.Maria knew and stood by him so many times and now with her parents gone the pain is just too much to bear and we must all lift her up until she finds herself and move forward without enabling herslef for the sake of an image.
