'House' Star Lisa Edelstein Is Checking Out

Cuddy fans, you better have a seat:
Lisa Edelstein will not return to 'House' for the show's eighth (and probably final) season.
According to
Deadline, Edelstein and costars Omar Epps and Robert Sean Leonard were not under contract for the eighth season. However, Epps and Leonard signed new deals and Edelstein was expected to ... until she didn't.
"After much consideration, I am moving onward with a combination of disappointment at leaving behind a character I have loved playing for seven years and excitement of the new opportunities in acting and producing that lie ahead,"
Edelstein said in a statement.
As part of the new deal that was being negotiated, the actress had been asked to cut her per episode salary.
Edelstein has been on 'House' since it premiered in 2004. Her character, dean of medicine and hospital administrator Dr. Lisa Cuddy, has had an off-and-on relationship with Hugh Laurie's Dr. House. In 2011, the actress won the People's Choice Award for Best Drama Actress in a TV Series.
Season 8 is expected to be the last for 'House.' Series star Hugh Laurie is only under contract for season 8.
"[The] end of that season, right now, looks like the end of the show,"
Laurie told Radio Times.
No word on whether she'll return for an episode or two to wrap up her character's storyline.
Fox recently announced its new fall schedule, with 'House' at 9PM on Mondays following new sci-fi drama 'Terra Nova.' Other new shows include the 'Bones' spinoff 'Finder' and J. J. Abrams' 'Alcatraz.'

Maybe Demi Moore can take her place! LOL!

I would rather have seen Epps (aka Forman) go than Edelstein/Cuddy. Does this mean the series will end with House miserable? Or will he finally die of an overdose? I prefer a happy ending - or at least an ambiguous one.
Its one of the best shows on TV and it wont be the same without her.

She'll be back when the money talks.

I'd bet the cheap bastards at fox aren't being asked to take pay cuts for the next year...

Hi,...
A recent medical journal article exposed the most popular diets when it concluded that most popular diets are ineffective in their ability to produce long-term weight loss.

And this relates to what?
Speaking of those "cheap bastards" at Fox, they are also canceling America's Most Wanted" because "it's too expensive" to make. Leave it to the exec's at Fox to consider their "bottom line" instead of bringing horrible criminals to justice. This show has helped bring down so many bad men and women (over 1,000!). This show also has lot's of viewers. The ratings for this show are NOT low.

The whole draw to House is the underlying love/hate relationship between Cuddy and House and House's developing relationship with Cuddy's little girl. Without them in the show, it's just a medical show. Pay her what she's worth , i bet no others were asked to take a cut in pay.WTH is wrong with the Gods at Fox? Pulling AMW and Lie to Me and messing with House, one mistake after another...

If I were the exec's of the show I'll write a chapter "killing the mother" and let HOUSE raising the little girl, though.
House has had a good run. They've depleted all the good diseases, and it's time for it to end before an episode features toenail fungus.

HOUSE jumped the shark years ago. Maybe Lisa will spend her time raising money for abortion clinics since the stupid republicans want to limit taxpayer funding.
