Haley Reinhart certainly had a memorable opening number for this semi-final performance episode of 'American Idol'.She became the first contestant to perform during the show with a family member on stage when her father joined her on Led Zeppelin's 'What Is and What Should Never Be.'
He proved a consummate guitarist and a professional all around. Poor Haley, either flummoxed by her father's presence, or just unlucky in the moment, took a tumble at one point when trying to climb the stairs in front of the judges, but recovered quickly and finished strong.

I swear the judges have it in for Haley -- at least Randy and Jennifer. They toss Lauren a soft ball with Dance and drool all over her. Then they throw one of the angriest songs ever written to Haley and expect her to shine. And jealous Jennifer has to nail her for it. Top that with the selection of Rhiannan, a song that's impossible to learn in a week and Haley was screwed from the start. I'm just hoping that America gives her credit for the nerve to take on Led Zeppelin. Something James should have done. Because of the judges I am really afraid that the finale will be between Scotty (who should be there) and Lauren (who flubbed two songs tonight). I couldn't imagine anything more boring. AI will lose half their audience.

She did NOT nail that awsome Zep song..I really do not see what the judges see in her slaying that song..sounded kariokee to me.
You are confusing "having it in for Haley" with objective criticism. Reinhart shouldn't even be on the show this week. She can't even begin to match James Durbin is vocal quality or performance skills. If not for the jealous Adam Lambert faction who conspired with equally jealous Ellen Degeneres to influence voters, we wouldn't even have to look at Haley Reinhart, the stuck up sorority girl.
I agree she could have done better with Stevie Nicks- then again, Stevie is pretty damn near impossible to do, period. Either copy(nope) or improve on(nope). However, although she started out too low on the register and did not have the pacing right at first, Haley absolutely ROCKED Alanis Morrisette. It was the best I have EVER seen anyone cover that song. The fact that it was such an angry, controversial song played into Haley's favor...the other two would never be that daring.
One of the replies here claims that James Durbin was a much better vocalist than Haley. Wow. I am still trying to get the out of pitch, out of tune screeching and screaming out of my mind. It was painful to listen to. Please, whoever wrote that, take a great metal song(I'm oldschool- I'd go with Deep Purple) and listen to it side by side with one of Durbin's performances. In my opinion, James was not much more than a good karaoke performer...of those songs. When he slowed down and actually tried to sing another style, he was pretty damn good...just not in the same league as a Haley Reinhart.
I don't see how Jennifer or Randy has it out for her. They gave her props for getting back in to the song after she fell "thats the sign a true professional right there"..that doesn't have a "i have it out for you" ring to it to me.. they actually have been pulling for her from day 1. She had no direction. They encouraged her to find her niche'.
Led Zeppelin contacted Haley after she sang House of the Rising sun and offered their songbook to her and this is what she chose. Zeppelin is not on the "typical" idol list of artists to choose so this says a lot about Haley's singing ability as Plant and Page thought she was fabulous enough to offer the songbook to her. I thought she rocked it and was absolutely fabulous.
I think Haley has the most talent over Lauren and Scotty. Lauren sings safe songs and squeals, while Scotty is such a diva, I get sick of watching him. For sixteen, he's really all about himself. I guess he thinks he's another Bieber?

Led Zeppelin didn't do "House of the Rising Sun" so they couldn't have called her and offered her their songbood, duh get your facts straight before you make up stories to post.

No DUH DUH DUH...just using your extremely intelligent form of expression...actually, no, it is just too ignorant to use. Please scratch the stupid Duh's.
Did this poster EVER claim that "House Of The Rising Sun" was performed by Led Zeppelin? Please go back and look. NO! They never did! So, if she performed a song written by the Animals...Yeah, that would be who it was, and they(Plant and Page) were impressed by her talent, could they not offer her their songs, even though they did not write the song the Animals did?
DUH.
um. yea they did... haley is amazing
Totally agree prom queen was given the safe songs and poor Haley was given about two of the roughest songs ever!

I'm sorry, but I have to disagree with Samara, about trying to do justice to Stevie Nicks..She was great when she was younger and with Fleetwood Mac, but I saw her the other night on Dancing with the Stars, I don't normally watch that show, but heard she was on so tuned in to listen..Frankly I was embarrased for her and had to turn the channel, cause she sucked..Could even carry a tune..As far a Hayley goes..She sounded better than Nicks..I hope she wins..This will be my last yr watching the idol, as it seems to be turning into the country Idol..Don't care for country and turned the channel each time the other two performed..Can't even believe Scotty is still there..He is a good country singer, but the last time I checked it was the American Idol, not the country Idol..And who ever said that J-lo is jealous of Hayley's talent..I totally agree..She's another mediocre singer and actress (great dancer though)she's just marketed well..

Well, I have seen Stevie on YouTube, and I agree that she is not great- at age 63. That is kind of sad. What I meant was, and the intent of Haley's performance was, Stevie back in the 70's- when she, and Fleetwood, were in their prime. Stevie was a goddess back then...impossible to copy, and impossible to this day to improve on.
I agree, Stevie needs to hang it up.
Haley did a great job doing the 70's Stevie...but I stand by my word...Stevie, in her prime, was not like ANYONE else. EVER.
I am impressed by what Haley did. It took guts to take on the GREAT Stevie Nicks. And she pulled it off.
Haley deserves to win, period.
I agree Samara, Stevie was great, but sadly it is time for her to hang it up..She was great in her day, I also grew up listening to her and the fabulous Fleetwood Mac..Some artists can continue on into their golden yrs (many blues musicians, BB King, Bonnie Raitt and many more) maybe the drugs and hard living have caught up with her..Also I agree, Haylee does derserve to win..Thanks for not taking offense to my disagreeing with you..You really take your chance when you post an opionion on these boards..
