What do you expect from a mom and dad who are born again Christian evangelists when you're Katy Perry? The 'I Kissed a Girl' pop songstress can expect to be more than a little miffed when it comes to her mom, Mary Hudson's, new memoir, according to Star magazine.
"Katy stepped out from behind the changing doors in a tiny risque costume," Hudson wrote. "No mother wants to see the top of her daughter's boobs."
Although, according to Hudson, the memoir is not meant to focus on her now uber-famous daughter, Perry seems to be a motif throughout the book.
Katy Perry Miffed Over Mom's Memoir
By Kiki Von Glinow Posted May 19th 2011 01:00PM
"I'm writing a Christian faith book, not some kid of tell all book about my daughter," Hudson said.
Perry should be used to her parents' distaste for her sexy songs and revealing get-ups, but she's not having it when it comes to being included in her mother's memoir.
"The situation has caused quite a bit of tension," Perry's dad, Keith Hudson, told Star. "I don't want that anymore."
Not only does Perry's mother disapprove of her tiny stage ensembles but she also has a few words for her fans.
"I recognized the psalmist gift in her performance," Hudson wrote. "Yet she sang out, 'I kissed a girl, and I liked it,' while thousands joined her. One part of my heart soared ... the other part broke for the thousands of hungry souls being fed something that didn't nourish their spirit, but fed their flesh."
When it comes to feeding our flesh, consider us satisfied.

If Katy grew up in a Christian household, she can not be surprised by her parent's opinions and attitudes. Just because Katy chose to walk away from their beliefs, doesn't mean Katy can expect her parents to follow her lead.

She did not "walk away" from her faith. She grew intelligent. Doesn't Christianity teach undying love for your children?
efa11 Just what does wearing skimpy outfits, saying provocative things and over sexualizing yourself have to do with intellegence? Why because you feel enlightened by denying God and religion? I happen to be working on my second science degree by the way so I have an idea what true intellegence is.
cat - your're obviously one of those who thinks that getting a degree is the same as getting an education.
Kudos to Katy Perry for growing up in that home and getting out sane.

If you call,"sane" acting like a tramp and walking the road to hell. Only a fool lives life that sends them to hell.
@diane: that kind of judgement seems very un-Christian to me.
Her mom needs to relax - Katy's one of the few young pop singers I actually enjoy (and I'm nearly 50). She's fun, talented, pretty and I have yet to hear of her being arrested for anything or being drunk/stoned in public. So some of her lyrics are a little "risque" by mom's standards and she doesn't wear a burka, big deal. Her mom should be on her knees thanking her creator that her daughter isn't Lindsay Lohan or Brittany Spears. THEN she'd have something to fuss about.

Our enemies may propose “tolerance” and seem to have a “live and let live” approach to all human choices – even if the choice is not to “let live,” but actually to “let die,” or “let life be destroyed.” These more subtle enemies are of all backgrounds. They may be atheists or agnostics, or or of any religion, including Christian or Catholic. Some times there are rebelious people who refuse to follow God's laws in our own churches.
She just doesn't like hearing that she's leading an immoral life, as per the family values that she was raised with. She doesn't like the fact that her parents won't give their stamp of approval for how she dresses and acts....and honestly, I can't say that I blame them. I was raised with old-fashioned values, as well, and I believe in modesty and acting like a lady. If that's the life that she chooses, it's between her and God (IMO), but she can't expect for her parents to approve of something that they think is wrong, either. She'd better realize that is the only mother she'll ever have and they *both* need to make some sort of peace. Life's just too short for this stuff, and it's sad to feel regret when you're looking at names chiseled in stone.....coulda,shoulda, woulda......too little too late. Make it right *now*.

I can understand why Katy would be upset.
If I were her, I would limit any contact with her mother. Her mother has nothing nice to say about Katy, yet at the same time, she's probably expecting to make a ton of money off of this book she's publishing about Katy, disguising it under a "Christian belief" book.
Get off of Katy's coattails, Mom, and leave it at that. Be proud that your daughter is supporting herself above and beyond what she, and you probably ever dreamed she would.

Exactly... good Christians don't exploit their children, especially for money and fame.
I didn't realize that 3 sentences constitutes a book. How do you know she has nothing nice to say about her in her book. And you are suggesting that she distance herself from her mother, the woman that gave birth to her. The woman who took care of her growing up. If anyone has the right to say anything about Katy, I would think her mom has every right to say what she wants. Katy herself has spoken about her faith. Yea, she gets it. There's always consequences for our actions and as a mother myself, I would be totally ashamed if my child threw away his values and morals.
Katy tried to be a christian singer, didn't make it then sold out and decided to be a cliche, just like Gaga. Firework is a pretty good song, but she isn't that great, won't be around long.

Who the Hell is Katy Perry and why should I give a damn about her? This is why I don't read "entertainment" news. It's always much ado about nothing.

Oh please... If you're not interested in "entertainment" news, why the hell are you on this website?
Limar, you're really stupid. No, you're really stupid.
What I heard is that Katy's mom was a "wild child" herself back in the day, and then she found God. Nothing like a reformed reformer !
Reply
That's true because we usually pretty much wrecked our lives before we reformed and above all else we want to spare our children the same.
Perry seems nice, sweet at times, she even emits and beautiful spirit despite the fact that her current stance seems to contradict her parents confession of faith in Jesus Christ, but one thing is for sure without a doubt... the greatest gift that her parents ever gave her was the guidance and leading of their faith. It is always a personal choice of whether the children will follow or rebel. This is the beauty of Christianity. There is no one saying you will have to be killed or tortured as in the Muslim religion. I know that when Katy has had enough of being a star or is chewed up and spit out by this cruel and perverse profession she will discover that she has walked the walk and now knows where the light is. It is a 50/50 chance that she will decide to walk in the love and light of Jesus Christ. God luck Katy... lets just hope you have the time to wait, your day just might be today... same for the rest of you. Today just might be your day. As for you Jesus haters and scoffers... By the time you discover the truth it will be too late. Find the love of Christ today.
