Princess Beatrice's Royal Hat Passes $30,000 Mark on eBay

With just under three days of bidding left, the whimsical hat Princess Beatrice wore to Prince William and Kate Middleton's wedding has surpassed 20,500 GBP (approximately $33,000) on eBay.

Beatrice and her sister Princess Eugenie made waves when they turned up at the royal wedding sporting some very flamboyant hats. Although many guests arrived in very fancy headgear, the daughters of Sarah Ferguson, who was infamously banned from the festivities, definitely took the cake.

After all the hoopla surrounding her hat, the princess decided to auction off the gravity-defying pink number by British designer Philip Treacy for charity. Ferguson confirmed to Oprah Winfrey last week that Beatrice was "putting it up on eBay to auction it for UNICEF and for Children in Crisis."

In the eBay description, Princess Beatrice writes, "I've been amazed by the amount of attention the hat has attracted. It's a wonderful opportunity to raise as much money as possible for two fantastic charities. I hope whoever wins the auction has as much fun with the hat as I have."

She also seems to have a sense of humor about the ridicule the hat has generated. The listing includes photos of Photoshopped memes and a link to the hat's Facebook page.

Bidding ends on May 22 at 9 AM PDT.

Beatrice herself is supposed to be auctioning off the hat, and
hopefully she is smarter than her mother (who has made more than a few bad decisions).

If Beatrice were smart, she would have wear something nice to the wedding, I am sure her mother is keeping the money, remember, she was cought trying to sell access to the queen for a few dollars, that's why she wasn't invited to the wedding...

It takes a lot of fortitude (or money) to wear something like that. It really is awful. But then, I'm just not fashionable. I just know what looks really, really bad.

I think by not inviting their mother to the wedding who is technically his aunt by marriage was in BAD TASTE and hurtful. That would hurt my feelings. Not very diplomatic I say......what does it hurt to add one more invite this way the girls and their mother can sit together and have a memorable family moment. Boo Hoo

If you look at the hat the right way it looks like a ring with a bow. Maybe she saw it and thought it would be perfect for a wedding. Besides most women in Britian love to out do each other with bigger hats, or outrages hats. I think she has beaten everyone since her hats was the talk of the town even if its ugly
