Fans of 'Saturday Night Live' know that not every sketch makes it onto the live show. Several are cut even just before they go to air, having survived through the dress rehearsal.
Because of this, there is tape of most of these cut sketches, and 'The Tonight Show' had one from the most recent episode, hosted by Ed Helms.
While the final product was an uneven mix of funny moments and awkward sketches, it's hard to say which category this new sketch would have fallen into. The idea of a compilation of songs to deter kids from having sex on prom night is filled with comic potential.
Helms and Taran Killam were great on the vocals, and the bit of song they performed as the Buchanan Brothers was certainly disturbing enough to turn off all of us, but could it have sustained a full sketch? We actually think it could have.
But it's easy to play the home version of Sunday Morning Lorne Michaels, second-guessing the official decisions that were made. We're just glad that in this day of modern technology, NBC often makes a lot of the cut sketches from dress rehearsal available on the web so we can still see them, warts and all.
What a silly mommy! Katie Holmes takes Suri into the water in her clothes as the two spend the afternoon at the beach in Miami. More of Today's Hottest Photos

Ed Helms has serious singing talent (remember the tiger song in the Hangover?) and could probably write some top 40 songs if he hasn't already.

It has been decades since SNL was funny. Every year it's just another cast of morons that think they're funny because they're on SNL.

The amazing thing about this article is the opening line:
"Fans of SNL..."
Are there any?
