It's been a long season, and in the end it's come down to two teenage country singers and one bluesy girl with a rocker heart on 'American Idol'. All three of them got to visit their hometowns and save their hearts out on three songs last night.
FOX was so excited about the record number of votes they recorded for this stage of the competition that they put out a press release touting it Thursday morning. It took a little of the thunder from Ryan Seacrest's announcement that they received 95 million votes.
Of course, with the addition of online voting this season, shouldn't they be expected to reach new records each week in the voting? But it's not how many votes they racked up that mattered. It's who got the most votes. Which two move on to next week's finalists.
!!SPOILER ALERT!!
It was a virtual no-brainer when Seacrest announced that Scotty McCreery was the first one moving into next week's Finals. It was then down to Lauren and Haley, and he didn't even make them sit through another commercial break to find out. Lauren was in and Haley was out.
Poor Haley didn't look like she took the news too well, but she blew us away with her exit performance of Elton John's 'Benny and the Jets.' We're pretty sure that finishing third isn't going to hurt her chances at a career at all.
And with her family performing behind her during her hometown visit, we wouldn't be surprised to see a Reinhart Family album.
It's a little bit strange to me that I could read exactly what Haley was thinking right on her face. "Uuhh, like there is no way that she is better than me. Like, I demand a recount!!!"
Uhhh,no honey! Actually the best artists were sent home last week and previous weeks. This is a popularity contest and people finally got tired of Haley's arrogant personality, her constant hoarse singing. Thank goodness, everyone woke up this week,
Haley should have gone home--her growling voice has gotten old. I'm sure she'll get a record deal at some point, but I don't think she deserves it. I'm hoping Lauren wins and ole "Baby lock them doors and turn the lights down low" goes home.
Haley should have gone home long ago, that way James would would have still been here!! Haley is a little stuck on herself and has been for awhile!! She is good but not so good that she is the one to win it all!! James would have gone on to taken the title but, since he isn't here my vote goes for Scotty because he is like James, a really down to earth nice guy!!!!
Boy that Haley sure did think she was going to be in the top 2! You are right her facial expression was all like...what? Recount! She was not happy at all! I'm pleased Haley was voted off. I don't think she makes a very good role model. I love that Lauren was happy Scotty McCreery was named safe. That was a real moment and if you saw Scotty's face when Lauren was named you know the sentiment was returned. How crazy this has to be for the two of them, especially with them going thru school and even some of the begining rounds together. Talk about building a friendship for life!
Haley tackled the really tough songs last night. Lauren got the soft balls. But now that America has voted, Country Idol is going to see the biggest losers, the advertising sales department at Fox. Ratings are going to sink like a rock thanks to Randy and Jennifer's bias (they won't be back if there's a next year). Fox is going to have to shell out millions in make-goods (which is advertising lingo for oh crap).
Makegoods are usually issued when a promised audience is not delivered. In this case, all advertisers are in for the full season. Even if the final is a bust, there will be no makegoods since they got what was promised for the season
I'm personally glad Haley is gone. I've interviewed many artists over the years and have noticed the one hit wonder types always have plenty of attitude, like Haley, while the really talented, long range artists are nicer people.
So sorry to see Scotty and Lauren in the finals.Scotty is so annoying,he can't hit high notes and goes off key. Same thing with the teeny bopper Lauren.Haley had guts, and drive. The other two are boring!!!!!! James was really good and had a great voice. I will be watching the voice from now on so much better!!!
Glad to see Haley go. I think she should of went awhile ago. Most of all, I am glad I do not have to watch Steven Tyler leering at her, which I thought was real creepy.
Lauren flubbed two songs last night - and they were easy. Haley took on three very difficult songs -- and did an amazing job with two of them. If this had been judged with a degree of difficulty like diving and gymnastics in the Olympics, Haley would still be on. But it isn't. It's judged by how many texts can one send in a limited amount of time. CI (Country Idol) just lost the bulk of their viewers. And you can pin that one on the talentless Jennifer's jealousy. I can bet you after the ratings disaster of next week, she will not be back.
What a silly mommy! Katie Holmes takes Suri into the water in her clothes as the two spend the afternoon at the beach in Miami. More of Today's Hottest Photos

That girl definitely has a chip on her shoulder. All three can sing, but i'm glad Haley is going home.
I am SO HAPPY Hailey didn't make it. What a sore loser. Don't like her. It's one thing to be disapointed. It's another to be a sore loser.
american idol is and has always been hopelessly retarded, and a prime example of rank stupidity in western pop culture.
It should have been Lauren who was sent home!
Haley is the better artist and performer.

So glad Hayley is gone. Good luck to Scotty and Lauren. I still miss James, and think he should have been one of the finalists.

Me too. I think the final 3 should have been James,
Lauren and Scotty.
Did you all notice James has not been in the audience?
I saw so many others, but not James! I hope he's okay!!
James is fine...it was "James Durbin Day" at Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk and he did a show there sometime this weekend

They were my two favorites right from the auditions!!
I REALLY want Lauren to win!! But I think Scotty just
might out-do her. Either way is good, but I DO favor
Lauren!!
