'American Idol' Reveals Its Top Two: Who Went Home? (Video)

It's been a long season, and in the end it's come down to two teenage country singers and one bluesy girl with a rocker heart on 'American Idol'. All three of them got to visit their hometowns and save their hearts out on three songs last night.

FOX was so excited about the record number of votes they recorded for this stage of the competition that they put out a press release touting it Thursday morning. It took a little of the thunder from Ryan Seacrest's announcement that they received 95 million votes.

Of course, with the addition of online voting this season, shouldn't they be expected to reach new records each week in the voting? But it's not how many votes they racked up that mattered. It's who got the most votes. Which two move on to next week's finalists.

!!SPOILER ALERT!!

It was a virtual no-brainer when Seacrest announced that Scotty McCreery was the first one moving into next week's Finals. It was then down to Lauren and Haley, and he didn't even make them sit through another commercial break to find out. Lauren was in and Haley was out.

Poor Haley didn't look like she took the news too well, but she blew us away with her exit performance of Elton John's 'Benny and the Jets.' We're pretty sure that finishing third isn't going to hurt her chances at a career at all.

And with her family performing behind her during her hometown visit, we wouldn't be surprised to see a Reinhart Family album.

I don't think we'll hear the end of James and Haley. They can get their record deals and not have the limitations that AI winners have. How many AI winners have really gone on to be successful and well known? Kelly Clarkson and Carrie Underwood.

I think Haley sang better than Lauren. Her voice was stronger, but Lauren seems like a very nice person to be around. I'm sure they will all do fine after they leave the show.

Haley was a screecher and had a nasty attitude Lauren and Scotty are awesome. I will certainly be watching next week.

Glad Haley is gone, I think she said to Ryan, don't touch me. Her look on her face, I can't believe I didn't make it.

Haley has always had that bad attitude, Very dis-respectful to the judges,so full of herself.Her songs were very pitchy along with her screaming and screeching on them. Americas VOTE just proved that and more, that true great singing and talent will win out every time. YES, AMERICA HAS SPOKEN AND AMERICA GOT IT RIGHT.

Lauren is by far a much better pop/country singer and way more marketable than the screeching/blues singer that is Hayley. Hayley dances around on stage like she high on LSD...so painful to watch!

Someone said that Hayley sang 3 difficult songs and did an amazing job...no she didn't! I heard her flubs...just wish the judges would have pointed them out. But, I guess it doesn't matter since the egotistical little girl went home :)

The first time I saw Haley roll her eyes at the judges, I knew she was a spoiled brat! Oh gee, someone criticize her, how dare them. She really thought she had won the whole thing! She looked like a deer caught in headlights. She already thinks she's a Diva, She needs to earn it. Go Scotty or Lauren either would be great!!

SO GLAD HALEY IS GONE!!! Her voice and attitude stunk! The best vocalis by a mile is Lauren Alaina. Scotty's okay, but Lauren has a gorgeous tone and sings flawlessly. She's the star of the remaining two.

Oaky, the way this clip is cut you can't see it, but I swear Haley said something to Ryan off mic. When Ryan said something to the affect of, "Which means we say goody bye to Haley.." Haley patted his hand and sort of pushed it away. It looked like she said "Don't touch me", or "Don't talk to me"... something. Did any body else see this?

I picked Lauren Alaina to win at the top ten mark and knew she's take the crown! That girl has some serious pipes, plus she's pretty cute! I haven't voted yet, but I will vote for her next week.

Haley was definitely the most talented of the top 3. I actually think the top 3 should have been Haley, James and Casey. They were all willing to take chances and play more difficult, obscure and artistic songs.
I think most people just voted on familiarity and not on talent. It's a shame.

Haley's attitude proves she doesn't deserve to be a finalist,not even the final 3--should have been James with his humble heart and beautiful voice. Haley proved she hasnt got a humble bone in her I'm better than everyone attitude.

Haley was right, she should have been in the finale! Stop the bashing now, you got your 2 country folks in the top 2. For people who like sweet souls, a lot of the bashers are strangely lacking this quality themselves. Go Haley!
