After tying the knot in front of millions last month, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge followed up with a super-private honeymoon that ended Friday, a royal statement confirms.

Prince William and Kate Middleton quietly jetted off to a remote Indian Ocean island retreat in the Seychelles, about 1,000 miles east of Kenya, to indulge in a sun-and-sand vacation out of the public eye.

The newlyweds "thoroughly enjoyed their time together, and they are grateful to the Seychelles government for their assistance in making the honeymoon such a memorable and special 10 days," says an official press release from St. James Palace.

"They left happy, and clearly content with their stay," said the head of the Seychelles tourism board, who reportedly witnessed the couple departing for home.

The exclusive holiday was also incredibly expensive. Sources say the cost of security to keep prying eyes away contributed significantly to a honeymoon price tag of more than $700,000.
