Boxer Oscar De La Hoya Admits 'Flaws,' Enters Rehab

Addiction may be the toughest fight Oscar De La Hoya has seen -- the boxing legend is currently seeking help for substance abuse at a California rehab facility, according to TMZ.

The boxing legend is taking to Twitter to reveal a more thoughtful and introspective side -- a stark contrast from his persona in the ring.

"Stop finding excuses not to live," he tweeted. "Life is controlled by what you make of it and not of what it makes of you."

De La Hoya reportedly entered the facility several weeks ago to battle his demons and it appears that his new world outlook is sticking.

"Take a deep breath and let out all that anger that makes you hate," he continued to tweet. "It really is going to be o.k."

De La Hoya boasts an impressive record, having earned several boxing championship belts as well as a 1992 Olympic gold medal. But even with a gold medal hanging around his neck, the legend admits that he has his downfalls.

"After doing an honest evaluation of myself, I recognize that there are certain issues that I need to work on," he told TMZ. "Like everyone, I have my flaws, and I do not want to be one of those people that is afraid to admit and address those flaws."

Hopefully De La Hoya can knock out his addiction in the first round.

It must be difficult to live with himself knowing that he single handedly destroyed the sport of boxing with his exhibitions that he fraudulently called fights. He was a fake fighter and now he has to live with himself and he can't. Who could? Everyone started watching UFC to see real fight action. Take a look at boxing and see how his fraudulent influence destroyed that sport. Fixed non fights one after another. He has no highlight film. The only thing anyone credits him with is making a lot of money. He deserved his name The Golden Boy. But he put the Mexican fighter mystique to shame. He ran and hid most of his fights. He got away with fraud. His whole career was a dance. Ticki tack fights, nobody gets hurt. Get paid. Boxing - Oscar's way.

I really enjoyed watch De Hoya during is great career and I pray that he finds answers to his problem.

I wish him the best, I hope he kicks whatever he's addicted to and can get his life back on track. He has always had a good handle on things, but I guess the pressures of life just got hold of him as they do the rest of us. He's a true champion and I'm sure he'll beat down any thing that he faces.

It doesn't matter what Oscar is addicted to, all most of you would do is dog him out more if you found out. It also doesn't matter that he's "super rich" (money wise) because the poorest of the poor can be addicted to many, many life altering drugs. What MATTERS is that he's trying to get help. And with My God's help, he will, if it's what he really wants.
And despite what all the "Jesus Hater's" think, he WON'T get better without JESUS! Like it or lump it! I wouldn't know if I hadn't been there.

It makes me wonder why people think that celebrities of any kind are any different than ordinary citizens. They aren't. In fact, since they are celebrities, they are presented with a lot more temptation than most, and public opinion doesn't make a bit of difference. Before you judge, judge yourself. If only some years ago this so called olympic style drug testing is mandatory to every boxer, this addiction will not happen to Oscar. Too late, they want this testing to be implemented only with Manny Pacquiao throught the insinuations of the Floyd M. family. They accused Manny of taking Performance Enhancing Drugs without any true evidence of whatsoever just to ruin the minority and Filipino boxing reputation due to jealousy. Now what? LINTI GUID.
