'Glee' Star Jane Lynch Close to Signing Emmy Hosting Deal

Jane Lynch is close to signing a deal to host Fox's telecast of the 2011 Emmys, Deadline reports. Wednesday night's meeting of the TV Academy board of governors may see Lynch cemented as host.

However, the 'Glee' star isn't the only Fox figure being considered. Rumors have it that 'Family Guy' creator Seth MacFarlane and 'American Idol' host Ryan Seacrest are also in the running.

Last year, NBC had Jimmy Fallon, host of its talk show 'Late Night with Jimmy Fallon,' serve as host. The year before, CBS had 'How I Met Your Mother' star Neil Patrick Harris emcee the ceremony.

Lynch, in the guise of her 'Glee' character Sue Sylvester, has appeared at the Fox Upfront presentation for the last two years. She appeared as a hybrid of herself and Sue in the opening number of the 62nd Primetime Emmy Awards.

Could she host the entire Emmys ceremony as Sue?

Jimmy Fallon is great. I like Jane in movies and she would be a good host, and I liked other Ryan Murphy shows, I just don't like Glee.

I'd like to see Jane Lynch host the Emmys. She is a good actress & looks as good as the best of 'em in an evening gown - so elegant. In that way I can enjoy her presence without having to watch (ugh) Glee! lol

You couldn't pay me to watch Glee, but Jane Lynch was always funny in the Christopher Guest films I saw her in.
