Leak Fest: Are Arnold and Maria Behind All the Negative Stories?

Can you believe it? It's only been a little over a week since the stop-the-presses story of Arnold Schwarzenegger's love child emerged, and after a flurry of new details -- divorce lawyers, rumors of additional kids and mistresses -- the finger is now pointed back to the jilted wife. Is Maria Shriver behind the leaking of the original story?

According to TMZ, a "hysterical" Maria wanted to hold a press conference after learning the truth about the true paternity of Mildred Patty Baena's son, but was convinced to just leak the story to a pair of media outlets.

In addition to putting the focus on Maria, negative stories have also appeared in the media attacking Mildred as well and people that know a thing or two about spinning a story -- media insiders and PR flacks -- tell me this is exactly what the former Governor needs right now.

"Arnold and his people have long been known to fight hard to make sure they got rid of any negative stories about him," one media insider tells me. "No one is more aggressive than Arnold's team, which explains why he has been able to hide this story for over a decade."

As is the case with a lot of "other women," much of the media's attention has been focused on finding out more about Arnold's former mistress. Sample headlines include, 'Arnold's Baby Mama -- MANEATER!' and 'Arnold's Baby Mama -- 'Self Hating Hispanic'

"Anyone that thinks these stories are just popping up by themselves is naive," one A-list publicist tells me. "This is obviously an attempt to distract attention from the man who caused all this and direct it to Maria, who has done nothing wrong. Just because it's worked for him in the past, it's not going to work this time."

An award???? Hmmmm I think the Lorena Bobbitt award would be perfect, oh no, wait, with all the steroids Arnold has taken, it wouldn't be much of one.

I don't care what Maria's maiden name is, no one deserves the lack of respect Arnold and Mildred showed Maria. They are both pigs.

This is all stupid stuff. Is this really news or do we really care about these people? I don't. I feel sorry for Patty's son who NO ONE considers. A lot of self serving adults have wronged this child and I hope that he is ok and that the others get what THEY deserve.

Hope Arnold wasn't dumb like John Edwards and used campaign funds to help his lover buy her home or support his child or other lovers' and children as well. I also wondered if the home he bought for Patty B how much of it does he own? How much of it did he put down and how much will Maria's half be of the property or the pay back for the down payment? None of this deflects the bad light and bad press off of AS it's all him,his doing and undoing.

No one can say they didn't know Arnold before the Governor's Mansion - he never denied the allegation before the election and if Maria is truly behind the "leak strategy," then she is no better than he is. I get the feeling that the estrangement has been going on long before the big announcement. They were both just a little TOO focused on public image. The only innocent parties in this fiasco are the children - leave them in peace - ALL of them.

Even if Maria is the one who leaked the story who cares? She was the one who was blindsided by YEARS of betrayal. She was the one who was hurt but the finger is pointed back at her? What a beauiful strategy Arnold and it will probably cost you millions in the divorce.
