'Dancing With the Stars' Season 12 Finale: And the Winners Are... (Video)

Going into this finale of 'Dancing with the Stars' there was one round of competitive dancing left. The votes were in, though, and it was guaranteed to be a close battle. Chelsea Kane and Hines Ward were leading the judges' scores coming into the final night, but Kirstie Alley was close behind.

It was a star-studded finale, featuring guest appearances by Sara Evans, the Black-Eyed Peas and the first televised performance by The Go-Gos in five years. But it was the finalists that people were tuning in to see.

Kane and Mark Ballas tackled a Viennese Waltz, followed by a Cha-Cha-Cha by Alley and Maksim Chmerkovskiy, and Ward and Kym Johnson on a Samba to close out the performance aspect of the season. But this round was a wash as far as the final results went, when the judges gave all three performances a perfect 30 score.

So, it came down to the voters at home, and their support catapulted Kirstie Alley into the top two, above Chelsea Kane. So it was down to Alley and Hines Ward, with victory for the season going to Ward.

"When I started in this competition, I never thought I'd be in the finals," Ward said. "I owe it all to Kym. She's been an amazing teacher. I also want to thank all the fans."

I'm so glad Kirstie didn't oink her way to the trophy. You can't lie about being size 4 and then expect to be rewarded for it.

She didn't deserve a perfect score in that last dance. and she had that stupid smirk on her face. Watching as they were about to announce the winner, she felt that she won.

There is justice after all. Chelsea is a very cute girl, but she did not belong in the top 3. She was there because the judges wanted her there. Mark was off in the dances he created for them. I do think we need another judge or replace someone on the panel.

So glad Hines won, he danced great. I don't think we will see Maks in Sept. He's talking about taking a break. He was none too happy last night, though they should have won.

As usually the politically corrected judges and the terrible choice of tango music imposed on Ralph Macchio
decided his elimination . In the hand Marc and Chelsey shuld have won as the best couple dancers, but I can live with the final result becouse to see the beautifull Kim to perform the last perfect [ spaccata ] in the air it was [ glorious end ].
To dance lovers : As of today I remind you that Melissa and Tony tango, in season 8, it is still the best tango performed by a mature couple for technical skill ,visual emotional projection of tango plus a very beautifull women in an attractive dress.
For the man , Gilles Marini is still the best tango performed in that same season, as of today.

Tom is a great host - so natural. But his two female cohosts have been stiff, blah, and insincere asking their questions and responses. I have a idea. Hire Chelsea Kane to be cohost. She adds personality and enthusiam, and realness to it and is good looking too. Definitely think you should consider this!!! Would make the show alot better.

What were you all watching? Hines & Kim were not the best dancers. He got by on his smile & personality and Kim pulled him up with the sympathy votes. They were good, but Marc & Chelsey were ten times greater! I thought the original idea of the show was to have someone win, who had no dance experience & by the end have at least learned to dance. Winners are picked based on popularity not how well they have learned to dance. It should have been Chelsey, Hines & Kirsti. Very disappointed. I think I will opt out next season.
