'Idol' Hopeful Lauren Alaina Almost Missed Finale

The show must go on, and Lauren Alaina almost learned that the hard way. The 'American Idol' contestant barely made it on stage for the season finale of the hit singing show due to laryngitis.

According to Us Weekly, Alaina's voice was in such bad shape Tuesday they had recently-booted contestant Haley Reinhart in rehearsals in case Alaina had to withdraw from the competition.

However, the singer powered through Tuesday night's performances, and it was revealed she blew a vocal chord while practicing in the afternoon. After receiving emergency medical treatment to get her voice in singing shape, she hit the stage.

"I'm here, I'm ready to sing and I'm fine," Alaina told host Ryan Seacrest on the show. "Don't worry about it."

However, an 'Idol' source told Us that Alaina's nerves might be to blame, at least in part.

"She is trying to get her head together. It's been a roller coaster for her. She's determined to get through this," said the source, who added, "She's a trooper."

Health scare or not, Alaina still managed to wow the crowd Tuesday night. Check out her performance of 'Like My Mother Does' below.

I don't think it was fair for Scotty the songs chosen at the end. They favored Lauren.

First off - CHUBBY??? Give it a rest. She has talent. That being said, I was disappointed last night. I called it "LaurenIdol" Last night's show was all about Lauren being pushed front and center and definitely being the singer showcased. They went overboard on the vocal cord scenario. Scotty's two chosen songs were not suited to him at all whereas Lauren got the "heart strings tugged" votes because of the song dedicated to her mother, the crying and hugging that was allowed. The producers really pushed Lauren on the audience last night and said "Scotty who?"

Lauren is a spoiled brat! Her attitude shows that she is the only one that matters. When she came out in that fu-fu dress, I thought I'd die laughing. All she needed was little white ankle socks and black patent mary-janes. Little Miss Sunshine!! LOL! She is a joke and the judges are ramming her down our throats. I'm done with idol for good. Never again.

American Idol producers wanted a woman to win this year, and CLEARLY last night showed it. I'm not worried for Scotty though, b/c if he gets 2nd, he'll still be much more popular than Lauren... just like Adam and what's his face from last year:)

I picked lauren to be the winner when she auditioned. she has great talent. either way, either of them will do fine. Scotty will probably have the best career. but they both are great. i didn't like scotty at all at first. i never thought he should have been in the top 10 but he grew on me. i'm happy with whichever wins. they are both very talented.

I thought the same, I like them both, they are both awesome singers and wish them the best but AI di showcase Lauren last night. Scotty in reality is the best singer of the two but the songs that were chosen for him did not showcase his talent. We will all be hearing from Scotty and for sure we will see him winning many many country song awards. To me who has loved Elvis and claimed no one could touch him, well - I think Scotty has proved me wrong. You go Scotty, you have a great and awesome voice and talent. Just wish they would have showcased you more. You deserve to win and be named American Idol.
