Trivia buffs, get ready for some excellent news: VH1 announced today that it is resurrecting 'Pop Up Video.'
We'll now have 60 more half-hour episodes from which to glean funny tidbits of information about music videos. This time, though, the show will also skewer hip hop and rap, which the original version steered clear from so as not to step on sister network MTV's toes. The new series will debut in the fall, nearly a decade after the original version went off the air.
The show's co-creator Woody Thompson said "I have sat on the sidelines for the last decade and watched as everyone and the brother has ripped off 'Pop Up'in some way or another with the internet coming out of nowhere and Twitter being hauntingly familiar and all of these devices that are using snarky, pithy text."
Frankly, he's right. In the age of social networking, where an increasing amount of information is packaged in 140 characters or less, we're surprised this didn't happen sooner. But beggars can't be choosers -- let's watch this vintage pop up video and rejoice in the show's return together.
God I love that Rick Astley video! But, I haven't watched VH1 or MTV since they gave up showing music videos. Can they ever go back? I think they have lost their audience....
Can they also bring back some British Bands? Since the early 90s and the take over of jayz and puffy daddy Music has been in the gutter! Time for some independant radio stations, Not ones that are bought by the pimps! im not talking Gladyz Night either!
I'm so excited about this! I love Pop Up Video. I have one suggestion though, they need to do the pop up facts without adding the little bubble sound effect! I never liked that... you are trying to nod along with the song and you keep hearing these weird little "blooop" noises. It totally throws off my groove. :)
Yeah!!! I loved that show. I hope they add dates to the video. I need some help with the Timeline, LOL! Plus I think it would be cool. Keep the Theme song too.
What a silly mommy! Katie Holmes takes Suri into the water in her clothes as the two spend the afternoon at the beach in Miami. More of Today's Hottest Photos

"Pop-Up Video" is way too cool to waste on zero-talents like Beyonce, Usher, the BEPs, et. al.
