In the first 'Hangover' movie Zach Galifianakis' character Alan refers to Rainman as a 'retard,' and though the comment gets a big laugh, Hollywood heavyweights are stepping in to make sure this type of slur is no longer used.A PSA recently hit the airwaves featuring 'Glee' stars Jane Lynch and Lauren Potter discussing why racial and social slurs are hurtful.
The campaign, called the R-WORD, boasts the support of several industry leaders.
Check out the PSA, which uses uncensored minority slurs, and then head to www.r-word.org for more information.

When that PSA aired during Glee I was shocked...I scared the hell out of my cat when I screamed ITS ABOUT TIME! I broke out in goosebumps watching it...it was one of the most powerful things I have ever seen on TV. Great job to everyone involved!!!

I work with NC Special Olympics. They have been on a campaign to get rid of the "R" word for a few years now. ITS ABOUT TIME it went nationwide.. love it! Way to go..let's keep it up and eradicate the word!

thank god hollywood stars are taking this bold stand!!my only question is will we still be able to call the irish micks, italians, wops and southerners, crackers when the stars are finished with the "r"word????

Hey! Being Irish I resent that! It's "Beer-Swillin' Mick", thank you very much!!! They're just words people. Get the bleep over it!
This article is retarded.

I CONCUR; LITERALLY RETARDED!!!!!! POLITICAL CORRECTNESS CAN SUCK MY KISS!!!!
What other words you going to ban? How about not banning the words but teach people not to let words bother them? Turn the other cheek...as the Bible states.

Let's ban the B word! (That'd be "B"ible, for those too slow to catch on...or too retarded to get it).
I would like to know where does it stop, if it ofends you than dont tune in.

Perfect marketing!!!! only retards watch "Glee"

And your cliam is a lie fine that you don't like Glee but to use the R word for those that like Glee is wrong. I watch Glee every now and then not a show i have to watch every week.
The R word and all the other disgusting swear words that DON'T need to be in ANY movie should be erased from their lines too damn it.

Oh yes, maybe we should do away with the"H" word, and maybe the "A" word, and perhaps the "L' word and even the "S" word also.

What about the X word, the W word and the Z word? They've got to go as well. Once again...just words people. Why do you give simple words such power over you? Ignore it.

This is taking political correctness too far. Back in the '70's we watched "Archie Bunker"- the show used all different epithets and it was funny! Say these things enough and they lose the power to insult.

I retard. so.

Let's ban the F word from television and movies. It is unecessary

The F-bomb can be a tremendously expressive word. Sometimes, nothing else quite makes the point. But I guess we should ban it since YOU feel it is unnecessary. How about religions other than your or foods you don't care for, add those to the list?
Hollyweird again, LOL. Please. what's next? I dare hollyweird to try and outlaw the F word. How many times do we hear the F word in movies? This is grand-standing at its finest. F word, N word, L word, R word, C word, what the F*ck? this is getting ridiculous people!

How about let's ban all words that are offensive to people...NOT!
