Miley Cyrus Tweets Rant Against Urban Outfitters

There's no doubt that Miley Cyrus is a slave to fashion but who's one retailer that she has no tolerance for? Hipster Mecca, Urban Outfitters. After word that the chain stole a jewelry design from a lesser-known artist, Cyrus took to Twitter to let the skinny jean paradise hear her roar (via Celebuzz).

"Love that everybody is hating on Urban Outfitters," Cyrus tweeted. "Not only do they steal from artists but every time you give them money, you help finance a campaign against gay equality," she continued to tweet with the hashtag 'SHADYASHELL.'

In her Twitter rant, Cyrus sites the recent claim that Urban Outfitters jacked the design behind necklaces shaped like varying states from independent artist, Stevie Koerner, who sells her designs on Etsy.com.

"I'm very disappointed in Urban Outfitters," Koerner wrote on her blog. "I know they have stolen designs from plenty of other artists. I understand that they are a business, but it's not cool to completely rip off an independent designer's work."

But Urban Outfitters' not so flattering penchant for copying isn't the only reason they've got Cyrus up in arms. The company's CEO, Richard Hayne, has donated thousands of dollars to Pennsylvania Senator, Rick Santorum's campaign funds -- the same politician who has openly spoken against gay equality.

"'IF WE ALLOW GAY MARRIAGE NEXT THING U KNOW PEOPLE WILL BE MARRYING GOLD FISH' - Rick Santorum UO contributed $13,000 to this mans campaign," Cyrus continued to tweet.

Could Cyrus actually have an impact on the brand's revenue? Urban Outfitters' PR team better get a move on it before they find out.

I agree mel, because because Miley says do not go there I my7self will frequent the retailer more often. Gat equality, are you friggin kidding me. My taz dollars should not pay for benefits for same sex marriages and such.....just because we believe that marrtiage is between a man and a woman only we are labeled as closed-minded. The problem with this entire country is that we bend over backward for the minirity as if they are the majority. Heres an idea, go find your own island somewhere and create your own religion and laws then you won't have to whine all the time.

@Melanie I agree with you I should shop there more often too. I have family that are gay/cross dressers but I believe that God created Adam and Eve not Adam and Steve. Marriage is one man and one woman.
@bigD and nu huh please explain why God destroyed the cities if Sodom and Gomorrah if it wasn't the reason stated in the Bible. Correct me if I'm wrong but those cities were destroyed because of rampant homosexuality; I believe it states that men were lying with men and they also wanted to lay with the angels that God sent to the cities to look for Godly citizen's to save and the angels were at Lot's house when the men of the city came to his house.

Sodom and Gomorra is a story of people being inhospitable. The point of the story is not homosexuality. No more than the point is to offer your virgin daughters to the angry mob to safe the angles. Please read a little deeper. Homosexuality is not the sin that was being punished it was having a inhospitable attitude toward strangers. This is not my interpretation but biblical scholars who have made a life out of the historical and true meaning of the words by going back to the original language it was written in. One more point. Christ never ever mentioned homosexuality ever. Not once. He did talk about divorce a lot though
