Is Brad Pitt Using Angelina Jolie Marriage Talk to Push 'The Tree of Life'?

We should never doubt that Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie are excellent operators when it comes to using their personal lives to push their pet projects.

Pitt's recent exclusive confession to USA Weekend that he and Jolie are finally considering marriage (after a half decade of saying they won't wed until gay marriage is legal) comes at the incredibly opportune time that his passion project, Terrence Malick's 'The Tree of Life,' goes into limited release in theaters in the United States. It also comes just a couple of weeks after the film received very mixed reviews and some boos at the Cannes Film Festival, despite winning the event's top prize, the Palme d'Or.

Brad's couple of lines about finally making it legal with Angie ("The kids ask about marriage ...
It's meaning more and more to them. So it's something we've got to look at.") got his flick 100 times more press around the world than it received for winning the top French film prize.

They may seem like the most tight-lipped couple out there in the land of celebrity oversharing, but this isn't the first time Brad and Angie have been savvy about using their personal lives to get what they want.

The Hollywood Reporter, 'The Tree of Life' debuted in the States to a per-screen average of $93,320 -- a record for a FOX Searchlight title, due to the bump from winning the Palme.

Pitt's interview with USA Weekend just ran over the weekend. We'll have to wait until next week to calculate the "impending marriage" bump.

Whatever it takes to promote or sell a movie. Could be marriage, collecting another nick nack (new child from another country), showing off their house. Maybe someone could give them a "shower" and use soap and water on them.

They'd already displayed the kids at the Panda movie. They know if they get married it will be OVER. No one will care anymore or show up for their candid photo ops.

Heck yeah, they're using the press to promote his movie. The ONLY time you hear anything about these skanks is when one or the other has a movie that's getting ready to bomb!! They seek attention, Jennifer runs away from it. I can't wait until they are broken up and we don't have to see them anymore!

Tight lipped? No way! The general public knows way too much about them and their private lives. They, and many other stars, should really keep some things private.

if they are doing this for publicity, they are more losers than i even think...they are abusers...of their children...they are so very wrong for not getting married already...6 children, and the children have begged them to get married. it is not brad, he is running cover for angelina. it is her. she is a sicko, and scared to death. their relationship isnt healthy..she is sicko jealous, and crazy, really. brad should have bailed a long time ago., and stood his ground.

When Reese Witherspoon did a wedding photoshoot for People right before her movie came out why didn't Popeater ask if she was selling her wedding for movie promotion...They are PR masters sure but so is every other celebrity even the ones that are supposed to be so normal.

These two are media manipulators and very self promoting. If they get married, maybe they will get married in some far off country, and their marriage won't be legal in America or any where much else. They satisfy their kids, most the public, and can get millions for the photos. Divorce will be easy or needless.

whoever buys a ticket to a movie because the main star just announced that he and his partner are thinking about marriage, is stupid. just like someone said before they only give interviews when they have movies out but if the interviewer will only ask personal questions then they will answer those questions. of course, you will tell me that they should tell the guy to only ask questions about the movie but if fans want to hear more about their personal lives then why not tell them? they got this job knowing that most of their personal life will be gone. so people they are not saying all those things so you will go see the movie. they are saying them because people are interested in their lives (maybe not you, but MANY others)
