Jeff Conaway's Family Demands Autopsy

In order to lay to rest not only the beloved Jeff Conaway but also rumors that "foul play" had any presence in the 'Taxi' star's death, his family has insisted on an autopsy. Conaway's history of substance dependency had many assuming the 60-year-old actor's death was the result of an overdose.

"Jeff's sisters, Michelle and Carla wanted to have the autopsy done to rule out any foul play involving the death," a source told Radar Online. "There is no evidence that there was, but they wanted to be certain."

Conaway's ex-fiancée, Vikki Spinoza, has also been the subject of some suspicion surrounding the actor's death -- Spinoza was banned from visiting Conaway in the hospital during his last days due to a restraining order put in place by his family. During their relationship, Conaway accused Spinoza of injecting him with painkillers at their LA home before intentionally igniting a police bust.

Conaway's sisters are hoping that the autopsy results, which could take up to six weeks to receive, helps them to put a cap on their grieving process.

"Jeff's sisters are aware of his long battle with prescription drugs, and they know that this was the contributing factor in Jeff's death, but at the same time they wanted to set their minds to rest."

Radar reports that Conaway's 'Taxi' co-stars, Tony Danza and Marilu Henner, are helping the family when it comes to the original T-Bird's funeral arrangements.

If his girlfriend injected him with a lethal dose of heroin, it is considered murder. Maybe, not murder in the first degree, but murder in a court of law.

The actor's death was tragic, and shows the road to hell that is travelled by a drug addict. His life played out on reality shows. Now his family wants "answers". To what? That he slowly killed himself over time by his addictions. Don't blame the girlfriend, she didn't make him take the drugs. Its all quite sad. Let him Rest in Peace.

OMG, give it a rest !! What the family is doing makes sense. The girl friend was not only an addict she was a nut job. He had very little strengh to put up a fight if she was trying to give him something and she only hears what she wants to hear. They want to be sure it wasn't the girl friends doing, since she has been known to slip him something. If they don't do it, it will hang over their heads the rest of their life. It's called getting closure. Addict or not he was still human and was loved by his family. Gripe about the Doctors dispensing these drugs like candy and not monitoring or helping to manage pain without the use of addictive drugs. Just because it is happening to celebrities does not mean it is not happening to non-celebs, family members, your friends etc: More than you know.

Who says that his Dr "dispensed his meds like candy"? The man was in chronic pain. The fact that he od'ed just might mean that he was not careful enough with his dosage or that he might have just said F... it! People that get off calling him a junkie and that he somehow deserved this have probably never experienced "long term" pain. Believe me, it sucks! Big time!

I loved that guy. Yes, he did it to himself but he was human just like you and I. We all have our problems.

What purpose does it serve. It's easy to kill a drug addict with overdoses if anyone wants to.

What's it going to prove? Gosh help me my family doesn't do that to me. Like Ted Williams son had his dad decapitated, and his head frozen? How lunatic is that?

Why in the hell didn't the sisters care about him when he was alive...he is at fault no doubt about it but they could have intervened in one way or another.

How do you know that his family did not intervene? The only person that can truly help an addict is the addict himself! It's a disease like any medical disease. Very sad!
