Jeff Conaway's Family Demands Autopsy

In order to lay to rest not only the beloved Jeff Conaway but also rumors that "foul play" had any presence in the 'Taxi' star's death, his family has insisted on an autopsy. Conaway's history of substance dependency had many assuming the 60-year-old actor's death was the result of an overdose.

"Jeff's sisters, Michelle and Carla wanted to have the autopsy done to rule out any foul play involving the death," a source told Radar Online. "There is no evidence that there was, but they wanted to be certain."

Conaway's ex-fiancée, Vikki Spinoza, has also been the subject of some suspicion surrounding the actor's death -- Spinoza was banned from visiting Conaway in the hospital during his last days due to a restraining order put in place by his family. During their relationship, Conaway accused Spinoza of injecting him with painkillers at their LA home before intentionally igniting a police bust.

Conaway's sisters are hoping that the autopsy results, which could take up to six weeks to receive, helps them to put a cap on their grieving process.

"Jeff's sisters are aware of his long battle with prescription drugs, and they know that this was the contributing factor in Jeff's death, but at the same time they wanted to set their minds to rest."

Radar reports that Conaway's 'Taxi' co-stars, Tony Danza and Marilu Henner, are helping the family when it comes to the original T-Bird's funeral arrangements.

I would be doing the same thing. Maybe something can be learned. Tho how do you prove who put the drugs in his system? I know what "nut jobs" are capable of. It is just sad that Jeff was an addict all these years. He was loved.

Give me a f*cking break, so the guy uses enough drugs to kill an elephant daily, and they suspect foul play? How about placing the blame where it belongs. On him. He was a severe drug abuser, plain and simple.

Its a wonder it didnt happen sooner. Does anyone remember celebrity rehab? He live in a overdosed state for christs sake. Boo hoo f*cking hoo. He did drugs, did lots more, and died. Baam, life sucks but thats they way it is.

There was nothing "tragic" about his death. He had been killing himself for decades. Why he was never arrested and sent to a real rehab instead of a tv set with a pretend Doctor is beyond me. Bury the loser and be done with him. For good.

It is the family's business...no one elses. If it was your brother, you would want to do the same.

Linda, You are a horrible person. Jeff had his problems, but he was not a loser. He was someone's brother and son. You don't know all the family went through or all the facts.

lara, im sure your life is a bag of problems just like everybody else in the world. Like others said, its just closure. Sure he probably overdosed, but if it was your brother or immediate family member who had and was being publicized like this i bet it would outrage you, AND not to mention rude, disrespectful, and just plain unintelligent remarks like your own, all over the threads about his death. Its time for people to wake up and stop feeding their lives with this pop-culture entertainment of which they call the news, and get a constructive hobby or hay how about a job.

If that quake Dr Drew would have put Jedd on Methadone for his pain instead of pushing 12 step BS and cold turkey down his throat he would still be alive..I can't wait until Drew is sued for malpractice one day soon

Was his death really such a surprise? What do they think an aHas anyone seen him on tv in the past few years. He looked like an 90 year old man.

So Jeff's family is worried about him now? A little late, I would suspect.

Wow...Maybe some of you should actually READ the article. The sisters BELIEVE that it was an overdose but they want to RULE OUT any possibility of foul play. The ex-fiancee was a drug using nut-job, and the sisters just want to make sure that this psychopath, who they got BANNED from the hospital while Jeff was there, had nothing to do with his death.

Meanwhile, I met Jeff a few years ago at a Sci-Fi convention. He was an absolute joy. He looked god, and looked like he was enjoying himself, talking to the fans and the other guests. He will be missed. Godspeed.

Sounds like the family is milking every last moment of attention out of this guy's death. I would imagine they led their lives going around saying they were related to him, and that was their claim to fame. Now he's gone, that part is over, so they have to prolong his name being in the news for as long as they can to get their fix of faux fame.

Well heres a surprize, Another actor dies, and there is a scramble to point fingers.The man Abused drugs, Drinks all his life, he weakened his immune system. I feel sorry for his family and all, But he brought his suffering on himself, people know the dangers of drugs, and alchol, But he continued to do it. A body can only take so much abuse before it says ENOUGH IS ENOUGH!!!!!!!! As for his EX Girl friend, If there was a restraining order, why did the family NOT tell the hospital, who could or could Not see him. Most hospitals have you on a list, and you need to show your ID in order to enter.I am Sure there is no foul play, A body can only take so much and he pushed it's limits. I'm sure with all the substance abuse anyway, there isn't much left any way, so why not just let him FINALLY rest in Peace? Greedy VULTGERS, All anyone worries about is their "CUT" or what they "GET"

It is a shame and a pity that talented people end up down a road of addiction but facts are facts. The mans organs couldn't stand anymore. I have seen this many times and I am surprised he lived as long as he did with the drug addiction he had. It was well known. Pity but we all will die one day, he just pushed his along his way.
