When we heard Darren Aronofsky was directing a Revlon commercial, we could only imagine the possibilities. Would it be a one-minute exposé on the human condition? Would we be subjected to an overdose a la 'Requiem for a Dream' or a triumphant 'Wrestler'-like story? Would it even make sense? Unfortunately, the ad seems to be like any other straightforward makeup commercial, just with a bit of an artsy twist.Shot entirely in black and white, the 60-second spot stars actress Jessica Biel along with singer/rapper/producer Pharrell Williams, who also composed the music in the commercial. The ad begins with Biel in a black dress sitting on the bed of some high-end hotel as Pharrell walks down a long, dark hallway. Eventually, she puts on her Revlon Grow Luscious Plumping Mascara, which includes the requisite close-up on the label, as Pharrell steps into the hotel room.
That's it.
