'View' Source: Barbara Walters Would Take Meredith Vieira Back
Come next Wednesday, the great Meredith Vieira will be saying goodbye to NBC's 'Today' show, but if Barbara Walters has her way we might be seeing Meredith back on TV very soon.
"Barbara adores Meredith and would welcome her back on 'The View' in a second," a 'View' insider tells me. "Meredith returning home would be a great ratings boost and Barbara likes nothing better than ratings success even if it means asking one of the regular women to have a less active role."
Meredith was the talker's original moderator from its debut in 1997 until mid-2006 when it was announced she'd be taking over for Katie Couric at 'Today.'
Tired of getting up at 2:30 in the morning and wanting to spend more time with her journalist husband Richard Cohen, who has multiple sclerosis but is in good health, was the main reason Meredith decided it was time to leave. However, returning to a show like 'The View' which broadcasts live only four days a week (they record Friday's show on Thursday) would be a much easier schedule.
"Don't forget when the show started Joy Behar was part time. She wasn't on every day," a senior producer who has worked on 'The View' tells me. "Having Meredith back if only for a few days a week would make Barbara very, very happy. She never wanted her to leave in the first place."
Although for once it doesn't look like Bab's dream will come true. Meredith told me recently that she's dedicated to her NBC family ... a family she hopes to continue working with in a different position for many years to come!

Totally agree.....the only one who like Joy is Joy and she is definitely not a joy. She laughs at her own jokes and always says something off subject about herself. Also look at her when someone else is talking.....sour face. Get rid of Joy
I agree, Joy is very rude. Actually, obnoxious is a better word to descibe her.
please do not put vieira on, she stunk up the today show and we all stopped watching it, then who wants to be a millionaire. she has no flare about her. she is very dull. please , please, please do not put her on. if you do we will no longer watch your show

You must not be very bright if you don't understand that Elisabeth is the only Republican on the panel and without her, there would be much less debate going on. Thus the view of all the women would be the same. Boring. And I don't see where she talks nearly as much as Whoopie or Barbara. I mean Whoopie barely lets anyone else speak and the same for Barbara. But that's her show so that I get. Elisabeth gets cut off before she even starts speaking half the time. Wake up girl, you must not be watching the same show I am.

I would start watching again
I used to watch that show when ROSIE was on, and I loved it!! Elisabeth ruined it, and then they brought big mouth WHOOPIE in to finish it off. Haven't seen it in years...however, if Meredith were to go there, I would watch again, providing there is NO WHOOPIE!! And....she's the token B###K, so I doubt they would let her go!!

If Meredith does go back on the show I hope she glamorizes herself a little more. She's rather plain looking to start with and especially in this picture she looks likes she's ready to play on the game show "Minute to Win It". She could replace Whoopee who was good acting in movies but not on a talk show. Ick. Maybe Meredith will perk up her own personality if she does go back on the show.

I like meredith just the way she is. I think she looks great she makes me think of a women that know she good looking and does not have to primp up so people like people who have no brains just looks
Meredith doesn't need any "perking up". She is perfect just the way she is. She isn't superficial like the rest of Hollywood. Not plastic. She is funny, intelligent, & has a great heart & a personality to go with it. The rest of the "pack" has to go. They offer nothing.
Whoopie is awful. Run Meredith. Joy and Whoopie are two of the most annoying people I can think of........I don't think Meredith would fit into their trashy liberal concept.

Oh please hire her back and fire whoopie or sherrie, they are so rude! I might start watching it again if it were meredith, Barbara and elizabeth, let joy be part time again, she does nothing for the show either.
