Cheryl Cole Applying For U.S. Visa?

First Cheryl Cole was booted from the U.S. version of Simon Cowell's 'The X Factor,' then the UK version -- but now the singer and reality judge is rumored to be applying for a U.S. visa as her employment drama continues.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the British pop star is currently in a "chess match" with 'X Factor' producer Fremantle.

The report says Fremantle is trying to avoid paying Cole for her four days of work as an 'X Factor' judge, but they don't want to breach her contract.

"They don't want to pay her," a source told THR. "It's a chess match."

There has been no official comment on the state of Cole and the series. Despite widespread reports to the contrary, she's supposedly still employed. Fremantle is reportedly asking Cole to apply for a U.S. visa, and Cole is set to comply.

As of now, the current reports indicate Cole is being replaced by Pussycat Dolls singer and reality TV staple Nicole Scherzinger. The 'Dancing With the Stars' champion was originally tapped to co-host the series.

Cole won't be returning to the UK version of the series, either. Destiny's Child member Kelly Rowland has joined the panel in her place.

Cheryl Cole is very unsophisticated. While staying here in Los angeles she lamented that she missed her Chocolate from England. We are not living in a third world city..l buy English chocolate and indeed most European brands here all the time. there are several stores in Santa Monica that stock everything British....Her Northern accent is horrible and almsot impossible to understand. Shes beautiful but not suited for the american market.

This is a pretty girl, with a nice singing voice and it appears she's being raked over the coals because of some vendetta of simon's. Makes no sense. Her accent isn't difficult for me to understand. She sounds a bit Scotch to me and it's surely no worse than Sean Connery's!

Did they can her because she wouldn't dump her boyfriend, Derek Hough? That was the first thing I'd heard.

I really like her Parachute song, and after reading about her and seeing the video. I went to iTunes to download but it's not available for download in the US...only in UK and a US iTunes account can't download from there. It seems like many 'powers that be' are working to doom this talented girl.

I have been watching the UK version of the X-factor on the internet for the past couple of years. I do not think Cheryl is a great singer but I love her as a judge and mentor. I also have a difficult time understanding most accents but have always been able to understand her on the show. She would have been a great addition to the US show. Shame on Simon, he always seemed to really like her on the UK show, they were a good fit.
