Report: Scarlett Johansson and Sean Penn Have Split

It has been reported that Scarlett Johansson and Sean Penn have split.

PEOPLE is quoting a source who is saying that the Johansson and Penn are no longer dating.

The reason for the split is not known and the reps of the stars declined to comment when asked about the breakup.

There has been some speculation about the couple's relationship status when Johansson did not attend the Cannes Film Festival with Penn, whose movie 'The Tree of Life' premiered at the festival and won the prestigious Palme d'Or award.

The actress was said to be in New Mexico working on the upcoming comic adaptation movie, 'The Avengers.'

Johansson, 26, and Penn, 50, first made headlines when they went on a short-but-romantic vacation getaway to Mexico in March and they officially came out as a couple when they attended Reese Witherspoon's wedding to Jim Toth later that month.

Things seem to be going well for the couple and they even caused quiet a stir with their public display of affection at the annual White House Correspondents Dinner in May.

Penn lied about his age....he said he was 70 yrs old and she found out he was only 50. Penn only looks 70.

Sean is just what he looks like, a sleeze dirt bag. I suppose he was abusing this one as well. He has a rep for slapping the little tarts around and guess this one just got tired of the old man sooner rather than later. I don't believe anyone, including them, ever expected it to last, they got from each other just what they wanted then tossed it away. What a mess Hollywood is.
