As resident McKinley High troublemaker Santana on 'Glee,' supporting actress Naya Rivera routinely steps aside for series standouts Lea Michele, Chris Colfer and Santana's love interest, played by Heather Morris, to take the spotlight. But now, the 24-year-old Californian is making a play for solo success: EW.com reports that Rivera has scored a record deal with Columbia Records.
Rivera is the third star of the hit series to go solo. 'Glee' castmates Matthew Morrison (Will Shuester) and Mark Salling (Puck) have already released their own albums -- while many fans of Broadway belter Michele remain hopeful she'll announce a record deal soon.
While portraying the Cheerios villain whose role grew substantially in season 2, Rivera has been a versatile vocalist on 'Glee,' rocking covers from ABBA to Amy Winehouse. But there's no word yet on the musical style she'll aim for when she enters the studio for her debut album.

You have a very nice voice, please don't go the route of others who waste their vibrato on the music crap that is out there today. Everytime I hear Fergie waste her great voice doing "pop" crap, I cringe inside. To me, whether it pays great or not, is a true waste of talent. Please don't go that way!
