Fox News Confuses Sarah Palin and Tina Fey in Graphic Gaffe (Video)
Tina Fey's impression of
Sarah Palin has left such an indelible impression on the American consciousness that even Fox News can't tell the two apart.
On Sunday, while Fox News anchor Shannon Bream was teasing an interview with the former Alaska governor, Fox flashed a graphic of Fey doing her Palin impression on 'Saturday Night Live.'
The visual blunder came on a day when Palin was busy defending her unique historical interpretation of Paul Revere's ride, which may have Fey reprising her famous impression sooner rather than later.
Check out a clip of the snafu and a statement from Fox News.
David Clark, a Fox News executive producer, responded to the visual gaffe in a statement: "This past Sunday during 'America's News Headquarters,' a graphics error was made during a segment on former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin. The producer has since been disciplined and an explanation and apology will be made in the same hour next Sunday. Fox News regrets the error."
Fox News instituted a "
zero tolerance policy" for on-screen errors in 2009 after images of gigantic crowds were incorrectly paired with news stories about Tea Party protest rallies, giving the appearance that more people attended than actually did.
Despite the policy, the network has been having some trouble with the graphics department in recent weeks. After the Osama Bin Laden killing, a Nevada Fox affiliate published a graphic which mistakenly read that
Obama Bin Laden had been killed.
So while much of the country can share a good chuckle about this silly snafu, some poor Fox News producer may be in some hot water at his job.
