Though it was reported earlier this month that 'Scream 4' star Hayden Panettiere was dating New York Jets quarterback Mark Sanchez, it turns out she's spending time with a different Jets player: Scotty McKnight. A source tells UsMagazine.com that the pair is officially dating.

Just last week, Panettiere was mistakenly linked to Sanchez--who has actually known McKnight since they were kids.

"I'm a huge Jets fan and became very good friends with Mark and his buddies," the actress told UsMagazine in NYC last week. "I've always been that girl who has a lot of dude friends. I'm into sports so we have a lot in common."

McKnight, a wide receiver, was drafted in the seventh round of the 2011 NFL draft. He previously played at the University of Colorado.

Panettiere and longtime boyfriend, boxer Wladimir Klitschko, parted ways last month.
